  • what derailleur would work on a 40x11/36 1x10speed?

  • I can see that you can buy separately front and rear Deore V-brakes (BR-T610) ; genuinely interested to know what is the difference between the two? Aren't they identical except pad orientation (which can be adjusted)??

  • Do you already have shifters? Flat or drop bar?

  • Aren't they identical except pad orientation (which can be adjusted)??

I think the bend angle of the lead pipe might be different too

  • Officially, some, unofficially quite a few more. SRAM 10-speed MTB dérailleurs are optimised for 11-36 and work with either MTB levers or 10-speed road DoubleTap

  • ah, good shout, hadn't thought about it

  • I think I'd feel more comfortable about it if they were honest. Obviously, they are salesmen and they are trying to 'sell' their business to you to attract you in, so there is going to be a degree of blagging going on. If this is you, I think you need to make a judgement call - is this person just hamming it up a bit but has potential, or is it just plain bullshitting.

I'm assuming you've seen Dragon's Den. I watched it in the early days when I was still self employed and over the years there have been a mix of completely honest people on there, right up to completely delusional. The delusional were usually taken to bits fairly quickly with a couple of key questions, same sort of stuff that you'd be asked if you were sat in front of the bank manager. Might be worth watching a couple of the earlier episodes from before people worked out what the formula was.

  • i havent. Would prefer flat mount

  • Flat bar? Flat mount is brakes. Basically all MTB stuff will do 11-36 assuming it's 1x at the front.

Thanks for your input, and yeah it was me.

I agree, I just found it odd and illogical that a startup founder would try to hire someone to develop a team/capability, but then talk like they already have the team and capability in place. There’s no shame in it, it’s a startup after all.

    I’ll check out Dragon’s Den 👍

  • Thanks

    and you @gbj_tester

I got caught up on maximum front tooth difference, obvs thats for a change in chainrings, which I won't have.

    Too Risky?

Edit; I mean, cheapo mechs like that not specifically that listing.

  • SRAM rip off by the look of it, a chance it'll last longer than the official stuff.

  • If you've got a 10 speed cassette already then a 10 speed deore mech and shifter is probably best if you can find it, followed by actual SRAM stuff if you can find it, followed by dodgy stuff if you haven't got any other options.

  • Hah! I do fanboy sram abit on my roadbikes tbh...

I'm really not fussy about this one though, was shocked how cheap that cheapo stuff was, all my 'MTB' stuff is shimano 7,8,9 speed.
    I've got a few 10sp cassettes though.
Yes, it must be 10 speed.

    Food for thought.

  • Is there a top cap thread?
    I tried to UTFS

  • Testers sales thread?

I'm thinking more top cap pron

  • is there anywhere that will take a pile of really bad old CD's?

  • What do you mean by 'bad'?

  • Really bad. (Not all of these are / were mine. I SWEAR).

  • Feel bad chucking music in the bin, and sounds time consuming going to recycle

  • Leave them with a charity shop?

  • I’ll try but I don’t reckon they’ll take them.

  • Why not? A charity shop we donate to from time to time lists CDs as something they take (https://northlondonhospice.org/shops/what-to-donate/)

  • I took ~50 or so CDs to Oxfam a few years ago, they were happy to take them.
