Can you get an apple ID with out entering a credit card?
Tried on a new to me ipad and after entering everything I get this at the end to contact ittunes @ http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww/.

yes yon can, but I think you might have to enter it and then delete it. If upon signing up, the none option isn't there, or you can't skip that part, then you just sign up with any old credit card and then you can delete it by choosing the "None" tap at the end of all the differnet types of credit crads symbols.

I'm relatively poor. My Laptop finally died after just enough life With Windows 10 to make me bat shit crazy.
I want to convert to the cool kids part of the playground and get a mac.
I'm no Power user. On the face of it the performance of a macbook air would probs be great. I'm not travelling With it loads though. So the size of the macbook pro 13" would also be great.
Obviously looking at buying used. The macbook airs seem poor value in the used market. That hipster tax seems to stick. So figured I'd just look for a pro. Preferably late 2012 onwards for the sexy screen, and solid state Storage.
Any quick advice on where to buy, good vintages etc.?

Bootcamp went kaput when sorting out the partitions on my harddrive, it won't let me install but it can't put my partitions back to normal. Does anyone know any decent free partition managers?
Cheers

Anyone know of a place I can get an iphone 6 home button repaired relatively cheaply but still do a good job?
-
• #9308
How much careful are you? Normal home buttons aren't too complicated to fix yourself. Saying that I haven't opened up an iPhone 6, only older models

Ah something was up, and the apple support people unlocked something and now it all works.
If only I could do something with an ipad1.

13inch pros go for not too much. Make sure it's the retina version and you're all good.

Also... Wait a couple of weeks if you can.
New Macbook pros are due to land at WWDC on the 13th which will affect second hand prices.

Rumours says it'll be software focused :(

So what can you do with an Ipad 1, apart from sell it for about a ton on gumtree?

A student's laptop (unibody MBP, non-retina) hangs when booting then turns itself off. We tried both recovery partition and target disk mode to verify and repair the HDD, but it seems both times it can verify the recovery partition but not the main one, nor can it repair. It won't mount when in target disk mode.
Any other bright ideas before I tell him he must wave goodbye to his files?

depends on the year model, we have been slowly seeing the ribbon that connect the HDD to the Mac have been failing on our machines, ours are mostly last gen befeor retina, so 2011 ish? So it might be worth to take out the HDD, stick it in a caddy see if it'd work. If it does that he is in luck, coz a new ribbon only cost about 10-20 and he'd get his files back... good luck to that.

Ah, very interesting. Wasn't sure whether extracting it would help, but will give it a go.
Thanks.

I feeling an upgrade for my MBP late 2011 HD, gonna go SSD, I'm not very savvy with stuff like that, anyone recommend a decent one? Thinking 1TB and putting some more RAM in to make it up to 8GB.
Cheers

Oh man. Squash will fuck a computer right up as it's just loss of sugar. Rinsing it in distilled water might have helped but the logic board is almost certainly dead.
Try removing the hard drive / SSD and putting it in an external case to see if you can retrieve files. Check it for squash first though.
