That's why I want to see one in the flesh. Love Wiliers, didn't know they did a fixed, that would make up for the Lavaredo I never bought. You make a good point with the Steamroller, will investigate.

On another note, I want a road bike. Everything except the frame is sorted in my head. What to buy?
-
• #829
Vintage or modern?
-
• #830
Something that looks traditional; no sloping top tube, but I want new stem etc.

Infact how's about a custom fillet brazed Donahou original! Have a word with him. Have got his number, we could arrange to go and see him at work maybe!
-
• #832
Not sure, have only seen one frame so far. Will let him get a bit of experience first.

Get saving. Would put his work on a par with feather bikes... The tourer he is making for his Dad looks shit hot! Extra large fillet brazing for a sleek almost modern cast look! Whatever ya go for, should be steel all day brother. Fuck ali bikes!
-
• #834
Yeah, heard he's doing good stuff. We'll see.
Almost certainly steel, maybe ti, but probably steel.
-
• #835
I know he has ginished his one, he has nearly done his dads and his mates, and is starting on Buxton's soon (complete with custom laser cut drop outs!)
-
• #836
He needs to get some photos up on the internet! Those Feather's look totally slick.

ti sparky - going up in the world?
traditional road bikes all the way. I'd spend the money on the best groupset/wheels you can afford and pop it on an older frame, don't worry about a new one. Then when/if you have more money you can easily swap all the bits over. There are some bargins to be had around here on old road frames that are just crying out for renovation.

Well, I have £1,000 set aside. By set aside, I mean I'll earn it and save it over the next however long. Thinking of going to BJ and getting a frame done. Will take a trip to Donnie's though.

Anyone gaying about tonight? My saddle sores don't feel great, but am up for a bit of a Knob Aboot!

Chamois Cream. Or HTFU. I'm about tonight if there's a ride going on.

Good choice on the BJ. Get yourself a nice audax machine built up, pretty much the most useful bike you'll ever own, ever!

Cheeky! Lol. I aint no roadie!!! May just fuck about in town tonight! Save my poor shit box for next week!

What the hell have you been doing to get saddle sores anyway?
Bibs ftw!
-
• #844
Urm, let me think?
-
• #845
Bit of vaseline should see you to Wymondham and back. Or I'll just take myself out on the roadie and join you later / go to the pub.

May sack it for tonight. May just go and fuck about @ anlia square later on (10-11ish!)

Hey, got your visitor message pissed_up_pista but I'm still in the nursery so couldn't reply & figured this would be the best way.
Unfortunately I'm not based in Norwich, nor do I have a fixed gear bike at the moment! However, I'm based in Ipswich and figured that this forum would be the closest to me so I had a browse. I'm also currently looking for a cheapish (as cheap as possible :P) fixed gear bike, not entirely sure what to look for being new to the "scene" & young in general (16).

• #848
I still fancy a proper ride tonight. Anyone up for gears and lycra?
-
• #849
Probably going to give it a miss tonight but give me a buzz if you're drinking later.

Really? I don't like the look of it at all. Frame looks cheap and nasty, the welds in particular, and the parts don't look anything special. Think you're paying for the name there. At that price point I'd say the Willier Pista was king but tbh I'd just spend 150 less on a Steamroller (I am biased though).
