I think COD is just horribly optimised, whenever they do updates it's like it's not even compressed.

Does certainly seem like it, I know it was a few years ago but MGSV (granted, it seems incredibly well optimised) comes in at less than 30GB, even after years of patches.
Insert joke about MGSV only being 2/3s of a game here.

Finished the Bioshock remaster yesterday after not getting on with it when it originally came out. Man what a twist, I now understand all the talk surrounding the game and how it subverts your motivations for playing, etc. Only problem was the audio was fucked, splicers screaming in your ear from what sounds like 10cm away only to not be there at all, diary recordings barely audible (I only discovered you could turn on the subtitles for them in the last quarter of the game) and weird levels on a lot of the ambient noise. I spent most of the game riding the volume control up and down constantly. Gonna do a TLOU run through in anticipation of part 2s imminent release now, I'm sure the reaction of dread to that bloody clicking sound is still in me

I'm currently playing TLOU.
Fucking clickers shit me right up -

I’m currently replaying TLOU Remaster after first playthrough 4 years ago.
Certainly hyped for Friday and my preorder to (hopefully) arrive.
Story, acting, audio is just at peak of excellence.
Not really enjoying the gameplay as few years ago, but gotta finish it because of the story. -

looking forward to playing tlou v 2 in about 5 years time when it pops up on the under 16 notes tab on the playstation shop.
god of wars is a bit good tho.

Finished it at the weekend. Third time through for me, second being before the Left Behind DLC was released. Can't believe that was six years ago.
Worryingly the PS4 was displaying occasional red vertical lines. Better not be about to die on me.

CoD battle pass also comes with a 10% XP boost for the entire season. As well as XP tokens you unlock throughout the pass. So I guess you can level up slightly quicker than normal. I think that's the only 'performance benefit' you get from the pass

People joke about that? It's like 600 hours long!

Solitaire is infinity long.

I was really looking forward to chapter 3 when chapter 2 finished (even if it was mostly rehashed missions). There was definitely a fair amount of bloat in that game!
-
• #22688
Nah, I completed that years ago, not even any extra content in new game+.
-
• #22689
A huge amount, not good for someone like me who has to do all possible side missions
-
• #22690
They definitely made it worse (or at least more obvious) by giving them names like:
'Eliminate the Heavy Infantry 09'
I mean if the missions are just copy-paste jobs the names may as well be too!

To be fair I think the point of the repeat missions was so that you could get better ranked soldiers which would let you research more stuff - and to let you try out new gear in different environments

I actually really enjoyed MGS 5, I had great fun screwing around with people and playing with the mechanics of the game. The only downside was some of the bosses felt like I was missing out on some equipment or something to make them actually possible. The Skulls when they jump out of a truck took me about an hour of slowly chipping away and hiding behind buildings, although watching a youtube video of it now they guy just gets in a machine gun turret and kills them in about 3 minutes.

As a sandbox it's great (though I'd argue the maps are too sparsely populated), and in terms of stealth mechanics I'm struggling to think of a modern game that does it better.
The plot was incredibly flaky and felt a bit phoned in, on top of that felt incredibly unfinished. And not just at a, "Yeah just pop that mission 51 in and that'll wrap it all up" level. Going to go back and replay it over the next few weeks I think (as well as 2, 3 & a few Splinter Cell games) and I'm sure its mechanics will be head and shoulders above the rest.

I'm tempted to start it again too but I'm currently replaying Monster Hunter which is not a short game.

Found my lynx 2 and game gear....both still work! but battery life is less than 20 minutes.

I agree with this totally. Really enjoyed the mechanics, and the potential for something amazing was there. It just became very repetitive in a sparse world.
If you're into the endorphin hit of collecting/base building, I can see the attraction.

Oh there's no way I'm starting from scratch! aintNobodyGotTimeForThat.jpg
One of the nice things about how they switched up the gameplay is that it's easy to jump in and out whereas the previous, more story-focussed games I'd always feel inclined to play over a weekend or something. MGSV did feel a lot like a mashup of regular MGS gameplay smothered with some Far Cry 3.

It definitely made a lot more sense in Peace Walker which was originally a handheld exclusive (and which Ground Zeroes/TPP are a direct sequel to), otherwise I felt it was a massive deviation from the main series.
Apologies for dragging this thread back 5 years with all the MGSV chat.

Anyone pre-ordered Last of US 2... it's getting interesting reviews
I'm on the fence, I'm only just actually playing RDR2 after buying it at release (did the same thing with RDR1 on PS3)

Jesus, that's insane, that's 15 Breath of the Wilds. Be interesting to see a memory breakdown of modern AAA games in terms of audio, models/textures & code.
