My mother is French. When she first visited my aunt in Southampton she was taken to the New Forest. When she was shown the ponies she said “Yes, very tasty”. She says it was a joke. We all know it wasn’t.
I ate horse once. It was delicious. Although I was dying from pneumonia at the time and also high on Xanax so maybe I wasn’t in a place to judge what was good or not.

Had horse meat multiple times, it's quite popular in the South of Italy region where wife is from. Leaner and healthier than beef and delicious indeed. Only had burgers and escalopes tho, might be too lean for a thick cut.
What I never understood about that whole saga is why you'd try to pass off horse as beef, when horse is the more expensive meat.
