... and the socket covers I've seen do in fact defeat the interlock mechanism in order to be fitted. And they are unregulated. Unlike sockets and plugs.
-
• #74379
it is difficult to bypass the built-in safety mechanisms in UK sockets
If you flip one of those "safety" covers over, you can use the earth pin to open the shutters on the L & N holes, making it easier to poke wires into them :)

Won't you monsters stop thinking about electrocuted children for a moment? Socket covers are to protect the socket from the child. Imagine having porridge or haribo or actual shit forced into those precious holes.
-

Duh! The shutters on the Live and Neutral are there to stop the Electricity falling out of the socket when not in use. Wasted electricity all over the carpet is a bad thing and is difficult to hoover up.
I thought eni foole kno that :)

ASWAD were at Leyton Carnival a couple of weeks ago.
It was too loud.

Didn't see any creepy owls or their owner either. I did hear that there was a birds of prey show earlier, but all three birds disappeared as soon as they were released, and failed to return, making it a very brief show.

A second hand (now third hand) anecdote. The source did not hang around to check if the birds returned later in the day, or are still ambushing pigeons outside Morley's / New Morley's / Monley's / Morlies / Best Mowley's.

Just two more points on socket covers.
1) since they are unregulated there have been multiple instances of them being made incorrectly, causing either damage to the socket protection mechanisms or worse, fires.
2) the NHS have issued a guidance sent to all public buildings in their estate telling them to not use and to remove all such covers.

Ever tried to plug something in when the earth bit of the plug has snapped off? Impossible without the use of a thin stick and perfect timing.
Even if the plug is switched on, there are plastic covers over the live terminals of the plug. These only move aside when the earth hole has something pushed into it.
As such, even if a little treasure is sticking something metal into the plug, it will be almost impossible for them to reach the live innards.
That said, my misses still uses them after this explanation. The parenting force is strong in her...
