How are you going to true your rear wheel?
-
• #3
first things first, and I'll build a front wheel up. Then if all goes well, I'll bend the forks out to accommodate a wider hub.
Hence wanting a crap old fork, would be a shame to do it to something nice
I know you can build up wheels in the forks you got on your frame, and also use the rear stays, but I wouldn't mind having a separate device for such adventures

Don't forget something like this:

You don't really need a dish stick for front wheels (or none dished track wheels)
I have a bianchi pista fork spare. Drop me a PM if you want it.

When you start bending forks a dish tool might help.
But you'd be better off buying a cheap truing stand.

No, you're right, you never really need it, even for a dished wheel.
But it's sooooo convenient to have one.
I bought this in one set last year:
Also not necessary, but a very nice bit:

I built that one and unless you have proper carpenter tools it wont be same as the one in the book but it worked for my first built. so yeah fork is a much better idea
