Laptop repair?

Anyone recommend anywhere to fix a laptop in London? The headphone jack on my Vaio has half gone, I can wiggle it to make it work but would like a more permanent solution...

IS a PC card with an audio jack an affordable alternative?

It is very difficult to find a computer repair shop that wont rip you off. The 'technicians' will most often just guess & bodge the job no better than you after first trying to sell you a new motherboard which costs more than a new computer.

If it is possible to fix, as in just your headphone socket coming a bit loose - just have a go yourself. And be very careful about where you put your screws, I always make a video while im taking anything apart so I dont lose anything/mess up order.

What Vaio is it and where are you located as I have a mate that dabbles in laptop repairs and might be able to have a look at it for you.

DFP / Tiswas - yeah i had a feeling they all suck so if all else fails was going to try that myself, just would rather someone who has a bit of experience with openin them does it.

Diable - Hackney, VGN-FE41s, that would be kinda cool if he could. Im sure its really simple, just the jack needs fixing in place. But been reading about taking apart vaio's online and it seems a bit daunitng the amount of getting things in the right place you have to do when puttting screws in...

I have a 3 year old compaq laptop with a kaput power board. Anyone know of any repair places I could post it off to (sure I've seen somewhere offering a fixed-price repair)
