  • Right, so i bought a frame last night off ebay, half drunk.
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=320368095336
no idea what it is, tried to research found sweet fuck all. After a day of trawling internet pages, i now understand that as the rear dropouts have a 130mm spacing im going to have to cold set my frame using some weird threaded rod clamp (right?) Also, as i know nothing about the frame, i was wondering how i could tell what bottom bracket ill be needing? Whats your opinion use anti-seize or not?

  • thats a lush frame i want it :D
    try your LBS lol

  • Judging from the name milano i'm guessing it will have to be an italian threaded bottom bracket and the length depends on what cranks you are going to be using. When you buy the cranks just ask the seller or try to buy them as a set. There's a thread listing everyones bottom brackets and crank choices on here so search for that.
For all help this will be your bible: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/

Also a local bike shop will be help depending on how nice they are/how much you pay...

  • Use anti sieze if you have it, grease will do but dont stress about it. Its only fixed cups from loose ball BB's that sieze in my experience.

In terms of threading just try it out/take it to a shop. Places like evans & cyclesurgery will pricematch if your worried about cost and also tell you what type you need as they are a shop and thats what they do.

Its a nice looking frame, be proud of it. You wont need any special tool for cold setting, just put a wheels in and tighten up the bolts, if you cant do all in one go, do it it two or put some extra spacers on the axle. The frame looks old and probably started out with smaller spacing and has been widened for a modern road (130mm) wheel.

  • cheers for the help guys, when it arrives im gonna start work, think for the sake of my student overdraft i will take it to edwardes in camberwell and get them to fit the BB. Is it right that u can measure the width of the BB to find out its type?

  • i'm gonna be in exactly the same position as you this time tomorrow, just buying a frame too, hope we don't have to compete for parts too much on here! good luck with the build

  • haha, i agree, yea good luck with yours mate, lemme know how it comes along, ill probably post some pics once its in full swing.
