Have received this (which was already on my wants list) as a bonus freebie with my copy of PFM - One & Only. Niiice.
^that's lovely really nice roller.
from those old comps looking like sub-base art rediscovered this jem. Always thought Danny breaks was ahead of the game with productions.
I was just looking to see if the English use the term 'sawn-off' like we do back home and found
This could be epic.
Damn, how have I only just found this thread. Will have a scroll through and listen to some of the tunes.
Heres a contribution, sure lot's of people are aware of it. I am not old enough to have been around when this stuff was getting made but discovering all the no u turn stuff recently made me very happy, i love the techstep stuff now. All the associated artwork is bad ass too.
Love No U Turn. Was playing this earlier. Both sides are wicked.
Saw that earlier and only just now remembered about the 3 drops remix that never got released!
Don’t think there’s a bad release on that label. I just love how dark it all sounds
Maybe I can justify getting one of these now.
Tune. Probably my favourite mix. This one good too: https://youtu.be/Ax7askKkck0
Ooooof that mix is a winner
This is another good No U Turn one.
The jazz break sample is just absolutely rough. When the "Sl..ll.ll..ll...a...a...a...a...ave" vocal's start coming in :-o
This funkies up the break even more, and the bassline. Rough bizznizz. The atmos and 'slave' vocals are even more mind twisting too.
If any of you guys are likely to be recording mixes whilst all this madness is occurring then get in touch with Flight as she's after stuff to broadcast to prisoners
Nice one. Going to try and contribute to this. I only really am able to record mixes when the house is empty, otherwise my 3 year old will want to know what’s going on, so it will be tricky. Maybe I’ll get him on the Mic.
In the absence of a hardcore thread, some tunes to start the day
And this... supreme.
Check out my mixcloud, a few DAT recordings from London pirate radio stations back in in the day (https://www.mixcloud.com/machinemelodies/plain-old-jungle-pirate-radio-london/)
Bailey Bluenote set - https://soundcloud.com/metalheadz/bailey-blue-note-set-recorded-live-at-the-steel-yard-london-05102019
oooof nice. Didn't really fancy the lineup from that party, looked a bit like too much drum and bass without breaks kinda drum and bass but this mix is dank
Some new jungle, quality Coco Bryce
honestly thought this was a dillinja track when I first heard it in a mix, the bass is something else
I still have a really old tape recorded from the radio, i think it was my first exposure to jungle. School was full of Technics jackets and i started to become aware of friends tickering with music on Amigas, a couple of which did alright out of it.
I remember going to United Dance sometime in the 90s, the 2 main rooms were alternating Hardcore and Jungle all night but it soon became apparent that hardcore was losing favour to the dnb. I went with about 5 mates and we were all well underage and baby faced and it was the beginning of us ruining our lives lighting up, double dropping and eventually burning out. Still i wouldnt change it.
Andy C probably changed everything...maybe not but i just remember the massive shift into darker, fuller sounding production although it has to be said Optical - To Shape the Future remix was probably one of my favorite tunes. I must have gone to every Warning @ the Junction in Cambridge for about 10 years but after a while it started to repeat every year, one month would be Formation, one would be RAM, Bad Company etc. A couple of lads i knew at college went on to become Commix and signed with Metalheadz. Eventually the few good record shops in town struggled to survive and one of my friends (surplus)caused a massive issue by playing a record he had cut after splicing the parts of recordings together in order to get hold of a tune before it was released, only for its author Ray Keith be at the night and go fucking mental with Mampi Swift for backup edit might have been the other way round, around the time of 'Trippin' - that was a night called Breakage and the venue had its own climate, it would get so sweaty it would rain indoors. In the end i feel like the overuse of bass kick build ups/fills and the arrival of Pendulum kind of killed the scene for many of us and i started to realise i was an old dude in the middle of a load of kids and started to tune in more with Techno.
Absolute killer of a track.
On the subject of Dylan - if you haven't listened to the recordings of his old Rude FM shows, change that.
