anyone got any cheap vittoria corsa's or conti sprinters going spare?
I'm building up a tub wheelset for HH come summer and right now I'm as poor as a church mouse. So can't afford the 45 notes the vittoria's set you back new...
Anyone have any let me know...
many thanks -

many thanksI've a pair of Hutchinson Tempos you can have for free. They've seen light usage at HH only.

I've got plenty of 36H tub rims to get rid of if you or anyone else is interested.
Cheers, but I sort of though 32h was overdoing it a bit, let alone 36. I'm not gonna be jumping up any curbs on these.
Ambrosio still do the Nemesis and F20 Crono tubular rims and I think Halo do a 32H tubular rim too.
Most tubular rims these days are carbon, so finding decent aluminium rims is becoming harder.
Hmm, those ambrosios are £70 or so. The reflexes are £40ish which is more do-able, but I was holding out for something a bit smarter or with a bit of an aero profile.
Maybe I should've got up earlier and trawled round the jumble the other day.

I was thinking of building some tubular wheels for next season, as something to go between basic training wheels and expensive racing wheels. I've got some 32h hubs - where are all the rims!
I can find Mavic Reflexs, and mentions of loads of NOS rims which are £70+ each, but where the hell is everything else!? Am I doomed to trawl the classifieds for months?
Schmitty has some tub training wheels on his koga in the VCL shed. 32h look like black deep v, he got them from edwards. No idea what they are, but you could have a look.

MAVIC Mach2 CD

JC, got a new pair of these in 32H for a fair price. -

There's a tubular version of the Velocity Deep V called the Pro Elite that BLB might have as distributor.

I've seen some alright prices at campyoldy on some NOS tub rims, not sure what they have now. I only saw them after I'd spent ages trawling eBay and eventually getting a set of campag ones for about £40

I've got a few pairs of cheap tubs knocking around, will sell for pin money.
Also a pair of hardly used conti sprinters which I'll be taking off my race wheels (to be replaced with pista evo cs) will be fo' sale.

rob bear me in mind for the sprinters when you get round to selling them...

^ corny I don't know if Sigma Sport still have their sale shop going but they had a few tubs they had pulled from old warehouse stock for buttons.

Yay!
Corny back at the track! -

What you really need JC is a pair of Kinlin TB25 but I couldn't find anyone who sells them in the UK. I imported two pairs from Germany to build up into cross wheels. I've only built one pair up so far.
Another alternative is the Velocity Major Tom, available from here for £60 each.
^I know BLB carry the clincher Velocity A23 version of those for £43 each and do still carry alot of NOS Mavic rims of various flavours too.

Sigma Sport have moved to a new hyper mega store a few doors down from their old shop on Hampton Wick and were clearing stock in the old place before Xmas.

Manchester specify Schwalbe, Continental, Tufo or Vittoria tyres - must be all-black.
In particular, Conti Tempos or Sonderklasse
Vittoria Pista Evo Cs or CL Tufo S3 Pro or S3CAll 22ml (not 19 ml).
I'm guessing Newport will be similar.
I used to use Dugasts on wood tracks, but they're a tad pricy to train on.
However, you don't puncture too often on indoor tracks, so the tyres last well.
Don't forget to rough them up a bit first, and to use white vinegar or similar to get rid of the slippery top surface on new tyres. Then a few laps on the Cote D'Azur first.

Got any reflexes?
-

Cheers, dcmone - think those might be a tad bulky though. Might just end up getting some reflexes.

@JC - These have to be worth a look? 36 hole though, don't know how flexible you are with hubs
