It's a black thing. You wouldn't understand, fool.
Don't bet on it crazy man.

This sort of rant is ten-a-penny--you read them all the time. The writer basically needs cycle training, as all of his problems are those of the non-assertive cyclist. Once he knows how to ride, he'll have far fewer problems with other road users. He also shows himself up by stereotyping different kinds of road users--which is pretty much the most elementary mistake anyone thinking about traffic can make.
kinda remind me of school, when the pupil always make it into an 'us vs them' issue with the teachers, when realistically, there's isn't an 'us vs. them' issue, they just made it appear so.

Why are you pissing everybody off? You're clearly an intelligent man, yet you feel the need to provoke and abuse people who have done nothing to you.

I know that there's a key combination that gets the Em dash, but I can never remember it. This has been going on for years. :(

It's how you write an em dash when you can't find the em dash key.
*Bemoans the failing standards of grammar 'these days' *
edit: just noticed the response above — on a mac it's option-shift-hypen.

Here it is online, bring on the comments...
edit: however unhelpful it is, I still found it funny...

If I'd been serious, I would've said 'double hyphen', init.
I can't be bothered using – (alt+-) or — on interspazz forums, much like badtmy's refusal to capitalise.
Go figyoor.

you into gissing will? recently read the netherworld purely on my gran's recomendation and because it's set in the block where she grew up and where i now live.
picked up another one of his the other day... forgotten the name of it though.
the article didn't bother me really. neither does hugo. i don't read any paper anymore.
EDIT: being "into gissing" sounds filthy.

Josh,
good article thanks for sharing.
frankly quite suprised how hostile some are on here.

as a journalist and cyclist, I saw that article and thought 'that's a lame story idea' -- a cliched list of items and prejudices listed in a pedestrian (see what I did there?) way. oooh pedestrians! aren't they awful! oooh cars! how terrible! and don't get me started on HGVs. yawn. it took him 3.5 minutes to write and 3.5 seconds as a reader to realise it's awfulness. I've smelt better farts.

If I was more conservative - big or small 'c' - I'd accuse you of being very hostile, dulwichrider.

Hehehehe, moaning about the low 'quality' of blog/diary articles in newspapers. Did I click on the Guardian website by mistake?

my comment was about the slagging match that ensued but your response does kind of prove a point

I'd have gone for 'envious' rather than 'hostile', but hey, apparently I'm only here to piss people off...

This does make me curious as to what constitutes hostility in your eyes. It sounds like your setting the bar pretty low.

I don't know if platini knows the person who he told to fuck off cunty bollocks but I would count that as pretty hostile.
I think you called someone a twat too, you did put a smiley face afterwards though, but If I didn't know you I would be a bit disturbed. : )

You have to take Platini's comments with a pinch of salt. Once he gets through puberty and moves out of his mum's place, his forum contributions will inevitably mellow.
I chose 'twat' after rejecting 'cunt' and 'wanker', as I thought they might be perceived as hostile, when the point of the post was to make a glib reference to the perceptual avatar thingy. Weirdly, 'twat' has often proven more inflammatory when directed at cabbies, but it definitely looks more cuddly on paper (screen) than some naughty words.

I was surprised you used 'twat', as when i think of emab i think of unsurpassed wisdom, charisma, wonderful wit, potential leader of the world and incredible good looks. but thats perception for ya ;)
with regards to the hostility i was a little perturbed, but more for the fear that my post had actually offended someone to provoke such reactions, which was never in my intentions
