No insurance claim, but he's now riding a vintage Pogliaghi, found in Italy.

Would you class that dent as a seriose structural problem? That is just my size but I am not sure I could aford to get it fixed straight away.

Ride it singlespeed then! ;)

probably be ok.

He's ridden it for quite some time after the fall.
No difference in handling was noticed.
The non-drive side of the tube is as normal so a repair isn't urgent.

probably be ok.
It'd be stretching things to call it a "ding" though.

John Gotti,
just buy it, ride it and repair when you can, getting a slightly road word bike for a fraction of the price new. You'll love it to pieces you will, and then respray it in a bright flamboyant, flourescent pink..

How do you go about finding a vintage Pogliaghi in Italy. Do you just turn up in Rome and ask about?
-
• #17
I'd go to Milan.

I think it's an excellent opportunity if you're looking for something like this.
If it was 2 - 3 cm lower/smaller, I would have taken it (after a short conversation about the price).
New downtube is a piece of cake for a framebuilder, respray has to be calculated for almost every vintage project.
So, this is a good thing to start with, if it's your size.Damn, I'm not tall enough (although the TT is my size). Just don't want to ride such a beauty with the saddle on the toptube.

I'm interested DMC
Its my size but not my colour
Painted black it would make a nice replacement for my bareknuckle
Cyclomundo has the decals
So the question is, who has the suitable Thron tubing and can do a proper repair and paint
I would want to figure this out before I parted with money
as I have enough bloody half built bikes cluttering up the place

A friend has a Cinelli Olympic Pista frame available: 59cm seat tube c-c, 57 top tube c-c
Canary yellow and Columbus Thron, but with a damaged downtube as the result of a spill.
The official Cinelli quote to correct this is £500, but a local builder can do it for much less.
Frame still tracks straight and is sound and ridable.
Retail was well over £1000.
