  • HHSB goodness ;)

you son of a bitch. how did you make that disc wheel. teach me your ways or i'll find yo bike and steal it!

  • I know where he lives...for the right price....

  • Lol, the Campag's are cheap but rather cheerful, €160 for the pair I think... then €50 for a rear hub and DIY changeover... €210 isn't too bad a for a Campag wheelset!!

I bought the disc for €120 but the catch was there was no space on the hub for a lockring... I tried using araldite on it first time around and botched it so I ended up stripping the threads getting it off, got a Miche carrier cog and Araldited it on, left it set for a week and built up a bit of material with the araldite outside it, just need to get a lockring and screw it onto the araldite now to stop the cog having lateral movement and hey presto, disc wheel :D

  • anyone know how to fix threaded headsets to get them running smooth?

Change and re-grease the bearings, cheap enough to do.
€1 for bearings and about €3 for white lithium grease.
Just its a pain to do..

  • Right, where does one obtain these "bearings and grease"?

    p.s. i got a new track bike.

  • Stick up a pic! What is it?

I found some cracks in my forks so I'll be getting some new ones, any suggestions from anyone?

  • If your looking for something strong look for rigid mtb forks, sexy on some bikes.

Any bike shop would have them, just open up your headset and take one out as a sample.

    What did you get?:D

  • ha ha its a mystery you will just have to wait til the next trix!
    mwhaa ha!
(i may be building this up to much)

  • .. you will just have to wait til the next trix!)

Who wants to do some tricks right now? ha

  • grumble grumble grumble

  • grumble grumble grumble

erik don't talk with your mouth full!

  • Heh, sorry...

    Anyways, back to projects...

So the good lady's Dad is going to be in Japan end of the month and he's picking up basically all of the parts for the project above...

other than that the rest of the bits shouldn't take too long to get hold of and it should be on the go soon enough :D

Drop it into your bike shop.

I found some cracks in my forks so I'll be getting some new ones, any suggestions from anyone?

What is your price range? What kind of thing are you looking for? You could get some nice carbon forks from wiggle for 80bills probably.

    Peace

  • Hell no! Carbon forks?! If I broke steel forks I'd be quite concerned about what I could do carbon ones...

I have €200-300 I guess although I don't want to spend that much I can if I need to.
I'd like some of those squared off forks preferably, and also, forks that I'd be able to spin the forks 360 with.

  • Get some 0degree 0rake forks if you want to trick on them... Maybe some Brooklyn ones either, they're quite tall so should have enough clearance for barspins, there's no way in hell you'll need to spend that kind of money though unless you're buying top notch carbon jobbies!

  • Yeah I'll study up and have a look around (Starting with those brooklyn forks)

    Any other suggestions?

Also, anyone know who supplies B43's?

  • Brick lane say they will be soon, drop them an email.

The only problem you might have with straight forks is toe-overlap, bob jackson do some nice straight steel forks.

  • I get toe overlap already in a tight turn, it's a pain in the hole but the only time I really notice it would be trackstanding sometimes

  • Are your forks raked? If they are and you get straight forks it will be much worse.

  • Yeah slightly I think. I have a spare at the moment so I have time to figure out what to do

  • As far as I know the bmw forks are quite long so that might bring it back to how it was originally.
You should be able to get the dimensions online somewhere. If you borrow a friend and get a pole or like bamboo, put it straight in the headtube and measure out the length of the forks, hold the wheel there and check for toe-overlap.
