  • He was chatting to Barry Jenkins this week on his excellent films to be buried with podcast (which seems to be getting some big American guests just of the back of Americans loving Ted Lasso) and he goes through his he got the Roy Kent role, which is kinda funny.

  • BATTLEBOTS on the Netfilx is sustaining me rn.

no Philippa Forrester but we'll let that slide. FOR NOW.

  • Anyone else enjoying On becoming a God in Central Florida?

  • Anyone else enjoying On becoming a God in Central Florida?

Yeah, it's weird, but really enjoyed it, esp Cody's character.

  • Been getting through a fair bit recently.

Enjoyed second season of lodge 49 once i managed to track it down. not a bad ending but would be hyped if the rumours the cast are trying to bring it back for a third run come true to open it up.

miracle workers - boggles my mind how a cast list including buscemi and harold potter could have such dire, base, zero effort jokes. lowest common denominator stuff. nothing about the show is compelling. feels like the tv equivalent of a company spending money on stupid vanity projects to try and avoid tax before end of year, no idea how it's made it to three seasons.

mr corman - modern day fixie skidder hero Joseph gordon-lovett turns his attentions to teaching while being a giant ball of anxiety. only few episodes so far but entertaining enough to see where it's going.

marvel's what if... - not a big comic book person but surprised by how much i'm enjoying it so far.

mrs fletcher - kathryn hahn gets all milfy when her kid goes off to college, has its moments, only 7 episodes but fits in a decent story arc still.

we got this - only just getting into it, hipster american lives with his swedish family in sweden and runs afoul of giant tax bill, tries to solve 30 year old assassination of swedish PM for 5Mil Kr reward. stumbles into giant conspiracy, does the dual language thing that lilyhammer did so has a similar vibe. not excellent but will finish watching between other stuff.

new additions to the to-watch list: Calls, Heels, little america, the mosquito coast

  • Death In Paradise is surely racist, subconscious at best.

  • So glad that Gone Fishing is back on, although I feel like it's at the point that half an hour every week isn't enough. Beautiful location, this week.

Also rather enjoyed the first episode of Vigil, definitely intrigued

  • Archer season 11 finally dropped on Netflix. Back to being spies again, much better than the last few concept seasons. Also, it won't be the last season with Malory, as Jessica Walter had recorded another season before she passed.

  • I was thinking just the other day how motor/battery tech must have advanced something like Robot Wars by now... I shall now find out!

  • Dunno if it's just my age, but Ladhood is excellent. Series 2, few episodes in.

  • mrs fletcher

    oh come on, that's rubbish

happy to hear you're liking lodge s02 though

  • Also rather enjoyed the first episode of Vigil, definitely intrigued

I quite enjoyed this. Nicely shot. Is it Jed Mercurio? I find most of his stuff is very watchable but lacks any subtlety whatsoever to the point where you start to think he doesn’t believe the viewer is capable of using the brain.

  • Started this yesterday. Bloody love it. It's everything that Robot Wars should have been - proper over the top and American, feels like a proper sport. The ring announcer bloke just completes it.

  • Is Loki any good? Watched the first one and thought it was average, wondering whether it's worth persevering.

  • First EP is a bit of a climb (a bit like Wandavision) but it got pretty good after that. I think other than the Mandalorian, most of the Disney+ "grown up" TV shows need a lot of storytelling in their first episode to get the ball rolling.

  • The Chair on Netflix is great. Wonder if academics is as toxic in the UK

  • Cheers. I'll have another go at it then.

  • I enjoyed it by the end.

Was a bit of a struggle in the first two or three from memory.

So... the American Gladiators approach rather than the ITV one.

  • Wonder if academics is as toxic in the UK

The forum has a thread where you could ask that question. You can be sure of entertaining replies.

  • Holy shit. Just watched the first episode of Vigil.
Thought it was getting a bit meh then it really ramped right up at the end there!

  • Sean Lock's 15 Storeys High back in iPlayer. If you've never seen it, it's a total gem. Gutted I lent my DVD out and never got it back

  • Watched all of S1 and the start of S2 last night.

  • New season of Back to Life started last night on bbc3.
Not started it yet but loved the 1st season.

  • Someone suggested that to me in Spain. I need it to appear on Plex though...
