  • Cock & Bull by Will Self - 5th April.

    Food theme suggestions? Phallic food?

    to be followed by:

Frankenstein by Mary Shelly - 26th April

  • 5th April - Cock and Bull (Balls) - Will Self
    26th April - Frankenstein - Mary Shelley

  • fantasitc. so are we discussing both books? I love will self. great choice. so sorry i missed the last one. sounds like you had a frickin brilliant time.

  • sandwiches Jacqui. it is morphing into food club.
Wolf is amazing - he made blue cheese, gold-leaf-chocolate, something else, and caviar sandwiches.

  • So Self is next, then Shelley after that?

  • Yes, Self is quite a quick read, so shouldnt take long, Also it gives the option to people who can maybe make one date but not the other.

  • Cool. Looks like I will be able to make the next one, but not the one after. Pretty bad ratio from me, but I'm reading them all the same.

What is the food theme for Self? Coq Au Vin and oxtail soup?

  • OK. Promise to not mess up the dates next time.

    Will Self. Good idea.

  • I bought in some Caol Ila 12 year especially aroogah...

  • I have a long weekend this weekend...bring it on Saturday!

  • Sounds good, read it a while ago, will be good to revisit

  • Friday Bump, I can't make this Sunday I'm afraid so am aiming for Frankenstein at the end of the month!

  • I'm afraid I have to give my apologies again, both for this one and for Frankenstein. Sorry.

  • where is this happening? will hopefully be able to make it

  • kind of missed Will Self, if it has happened?, sorry, was working last weekends, all a bit mad. are we set for next we-end & frankenstein? i really liked the book. was this one at my place?

  • Yeh we kind of lamed it on the Wil Self one as well, Still up for frankenstein - where's your place Wolf?
    I'll coralle the troops.

  • Sorry, as previously given, please accept my apologies for this Sunday. Have a good one--I really look forward to finally be able to make it to the next one!

  • Likewise; I'm in the states at the moment. Up for the next one, though.

  • consider me coralled! finished it the night before last - gave me really wierd-ass dreams.

can i suggest that as well/instead of scary food, we do frankenfood - stuff cooked with stuff you wouldn't expect it to go with, sausages sewn to broccolli etc... can't think of anything really viable right now. Do you know what I mean, or am I spouting rubbish?

  • No I like this idea, however I am currently bereft of ideas. I need to get reading!
The only thing I have at the moment is the scarily chocolatey cake I baked the other day.

  • or since the topic is re-creating nature we could indulge in a frenzy of gen-manipulated veggies, cloned meats, sauces full of artificial flavors and deserts glowing in the dark in bright artificial colors?

  • I'll bring the drinks

  • sooooooo two of my friends from the states are visiting (but one currently lives in france; the other budapest) and i didn't read the book yet (i thought i'd have more time after i got back! bought it like a month ago though) and maybe i can get some of it read between now and then but they've both read it before and i was hoping we could still come cause i really miss you guys. so frankount me in if you'll have us. and where is the wolf pad??

  • and ewwwww i hate sunny delight

  • Yeh its rank, I put it in there for comedy effect. I have to admit I havent bloody read it yet either, I'm going to try some speed reading tonight, but if we do it, I wont be able to make it until after 3pm.
Wolf, fess up - where art thou?
