i had a santacruz chameleon in the us, awesome bike, with v-brakes.
this stumpjumper new was worth more than 1000 quid so that's why i'm asking, it must be a really good frame. well, thanks anyway! -

this stumpjumper new was worth more than 1000 quid so that's why i'm asking, it must be a really good frame. well, thanks anyway! It was good (ish) in 2003, but the same frame is probably being used for new bikes at about £500 - 600 and upgrading to discs, which is a very good idea for muddy UK riding, and upgrading the forks is gonna set you back £200 - 300 using second hand parts. Given that the guys is going to want a few hundred for this bike, you've got to ask whether it's worth the bother.

Well a very similar one (can't recall if it had discs or V's though...) went in Cyclopedia in Watford about a month ago for £350 with no pedals if that's any help. It was a private sale through the shop - which they weren't happy about, I'm guessing the guy had bought a new bike and wanted to get rid of his old one.
A point to note- the frame suffers from really massive chain slap on the top of the rear chainstay in the Grannie ring and possibly more too, a design failure I'd say. The chain glides over the chainstay!! Worth checking out.

hi. i'm looking for a mountain bike recently, i know it's a bit off topic but appreciate if you guys could help me. i'm trying to have an idea of how much this bike is worth:

"2003 model Specialized Stumpjumper M4. Frame size is 19 inch.
Frame and parts in good condition and little ridden in the last 2 years.
Changed parts from original:
Wheels - now Mavic D521(150 quid)
Tyres - Panaracer Speedblasters 1.75
Replaced forks -
Stem, seat post, riser handlebar "
i know the forks are absolutely crap but this seems to be a good frame.
tks,
gus.
