  • Just been pootling about on the interwebz and found a photo of my first bike (not mine actual, but the same model) it was a yellow and black raleigh boxer.

must've been about 10 years old when i got it in the mid/late 80's, but i totally loved it.

so post your 1st bikes: the first real one, the one your dad or whoever took the stabilisers off for you.

  • Think this may have already been explored by the forum.

  • mine was a metallic blue peugeot 10 speed. i used to wash it and polish it every saturday (while my dad washed and waxed the family car).

You were TEN when you got your first bike? and you still had stabilisers? :)

  • Can't find the thread but this is a repost...

  • My 1st, 2nd and 3rd bike was Raleigh Burner. The first was a junior, wrecked the 2nd and turned down a new mountain bike for the neighbour's Burner which I got for £5.

  • oh wait, we're doing first real bike or first bike? i had a bigwheel (and i'm pretty sure a tricycle before that). and i sort of remember some yellow vaguely bmx-ish shaped thing that had training wheels on it.

ha ha yeah that reads wrong. i meant the bike not me!

  • i thought it may have been done before but i had a little search and couldn't find anything. ah well. so come on then; the bike you had when the stabilisers came off

  • My dad taught me to ride my first bike when I was four. I may have got it for my fourth birthday. I can't remember the make, but it was dark red and had a white saddle.

Not that one, there's an older one than that... Not working, Will? :[

  • and more interestingly, at what age did you learn how to cycle?
I was really late, must've been about 12 when I learnt how to. No garden/next to a main road until then.
First bike was some gash trek which I think is still breeding rust and mould in my garage.

  • Learnt to ride on a Boxer . . .

Then a Blue and Silver Coventry Eagle BMX (can't find pic)

    Then a Raleigh Flyer! :)
