  • These lads make some horrible watches, but I quite like this one you shared.

  • Lovely! Will you get it serviced?

  • I'll shark myself out as a pendent, but can we have the answer to this :) -before it's lost

  • If I keep it, then servicing is definitely on the cards. It’s a very pretty mid-size cushion case. Just torn with keeping it or trading/selling to someone who may appreciate it more.

  • there's cracking stuff

  • Trying to give the AGS SUS a boost to see if the capacitor is shot….Might take on the job myself if it is.

  • Lovely, simple and clean.

  • Popping this modified AliExpress ‘Mercury’ for sale as well. This is the one I bought two years ago, in a brand new case and new strap. New Renata 920SW in it as well.

  • I am looking for an Omega Seamaster 200 'Pre bond' ref 396.1041

Added complication is that I'd like it to be a 1989 ideally as its a present for my brother.

Any links or leads would be appreciated. I have done a fair bit of googling but not found any great examples.

Just to add, if I can't find the above, I am open to suggestions for other 'birth year' watches. As I mentioned the gift is for my brother, not a watch fan particularly. I would just like to commemorate a milestone for him and it seems fitting. It won't be a daily wearer for him.

  • Have you looked at Somlo, in Burlington Arcade?

  • I have had a look online yes. Nothing suitable it seems

  • Ejay2.0 is probably a good place to start

  • One of the best GS for sure.

  • Does anyone here own any kind of Frederique Constant?

I like the look of the Healey Chronograph and I wonder what I should look out for if buying second hand.

  • Yeah, works surprisingly well. Even if it did show that the battery is okay but there is a bigger problem that is causing it to drain on high power mode i think.

So off to be repaired it goes. In the meantime I'm hoping this 81 Silverwave just needs a new battery, cleaned up a treat from a very dirty but cheap ebay pick up.
