Doesn’t swatch own omega? I bet omega didn’t have much of a say or nodded thinking of how many will move up the market and eventually purchase a ‘real’ omega. Either way it is quite a genius move, very Warholian

Swatch and Omega are both part of the Swatch Group. It’s not the case that Swatch owns Omega, it’s that Nic Hayek Sr. renamed the group after the Swatch brand when it was at the height of its powers.

Some of the modders say that the aliexpress copies are better quality than the legit versions 🙃

I have one of the Swatch/Omega Speedmasters. It is what it is; a casual looking watch that I won't worry if I knock around a bit. As a bonus it's completely different to everything else that I own.

I don't think anyone should be upset about their existence.

I'm not upset, I don't own an Omega and I'm not particularly interested in them, just bemused that watches with the same appearance and branding can exist (officially) at two very different price/value points, and I can't work out whether it's going to be a net positive or negative for Omega in the long run.

Annoyingly this has started to run very fast. A few mins extra an hour. 😭

Time for an expensive service I assume?

Worth sending back to Zenith or just take it somewhere local? I’m in Hatton Garden and there are some good local guys here.

The Swatch ones don’t look anything like a legit Speedmaster, even the monochrome offerings.

I don’t think anyone eyeing up an Omega Speedmaster will think “oh I’ll just get the Swatch instead”; they’re different markets.

If it's came on quickly, may it have become magnetized ? That's easily fixed ....

That was my first thought but I tried it on the iPhone magnetiser app and it came up fine

I’ll have a go with the degausser when I get home anyway.

If it’s more than that I would only trust Zenith themselves with sorting that out.

How do you find it? connectivity Ok? Do you sort GPS through your phone. Are you Android or IOS? sorry for all the questions sorely tempted to purchase one.

I love it. Connectivity is absolutely fine - I’m on IOS and I use the Wear OS and Tag Heuer apps and I can link all of that to Strava.

GPS is through the watch - just like a Garmin watch, it’s all you need with you to record a run or ride. It will also broadcast heart (pulse) rate so I wear it on the turbo sometimes.

In Germany a few years ago, I downloaded Komoot onto it to navigate a hike (up Pürschling for anyone interested) and it worked flawlessly, but was admittedly very battery heavy.

I love all the different faces as well.

Thanks for answering. I have a garmin, was looking at Withings as something a bit smarter but couldn't get it to pair. These seem to fit the bill, although a little spendier.
It will be a shame to lose all the stuff on Garmin Connect, but I link to Strava anyway so will be on there.

Bang on with this. Worked in retail for years and never heard so many people say, 'I know my rights', and spouting turd about trading standards.

If anything retailers did it too much as a gesture of goodwill, they've clamped down on it now.

Obviously this is why I own the aliex, because quality.

Might wear my black one tomorrow…
