  • Always worth resurrecting a family watch, I quite like the dive strap already on it.

I promised no more watches for a while but this Jumbo just kinda fell onto my wrist for crazy cheapness at the watch fair. NO MORE WATCHES.

  • Lol

Good looking watch. Personally I'm loving the history.

    Auto, man or quartz?

Does look good compared to the speedy! ;-)

  • Here you go CB. I have saved you the trouble....

  • I think it takes a fair few cues from the Speedy, especially the case chamfers. It’s an automatic (ref 6138-3000) and is supposedly the first auto chronograph movement to be commercially available just beating the Swiss and the El Primero by a couple of months.

    Edit: @Aroogah lol

  • Yeah, it’s Seiko’s famous 6138 first auto chronograph movement.

I’ve been on about the Jumbo to @inchpincher for ages, but trust him to find a bargain one that’s ten times as nice as any of the ones I’ve seen on eBay.

The Panda model is more well known.

  • Yeah I’m running hot at the moment. I should ride my luck and head to a Rolex AD but I’m skint.

  • I'm in a similar position. Not really tried to get an accurate reading if how bad mine is loosing time but I don't want to open it up and loose/compromise it's waterproofness so I'm living with it.

  • Cheers Chris. I was hoping for a CSI zoom. But fine, that'll do.

  • Meh. I'm just messing with you. Phone browsing plus divided attention makes it easy to overlook things.

  • I know! It made me me lol.

  • I'm in agreement with the artist... But for that reason I can see the stupid watches being a hit.

  • Reminds me of Hublot making a number of watches to commemorate the first ascent of the Matterhorn.

To cut a long story short, after the climbers summited, a rope snapped on the descent and four men fell to their deaths. The broken rope is an exhibit in a museum near to the mountain.

Somehow, Hublot managed to convince the museum to give them some of the rope so they could include some strands in the display case back of the commemorative watches.

Quite apart from the weirdness of wearing a watch containing a bit of rope that snapped and killed four people, quite a few people were pissed that an artefact from an incident that is regarded as birthing the modern mountaineering movement has been used to sell watches.

  • Sound like a classic Biver stunt.

  • Biver

Well, he bought Blancpain for twenty grand and sold it for fifty million so the chap probably knows what he is doing!

Not to mention tripling sales at Omega!

  • Anyone familiar with Arnold &Son? They have some moonphase models I like but I don’t know much about the brand apart from it appears to be a reboot.

Urgh. That is tasteless. I mean, where do you even start with that? Humans. The sooner the asteroid gets here the better.

  • The sooner the asteroid gets here the better.

Someone will put bits of the asteroid in a watch

  • Omega already did

Edit: not sure if that one did the Dinos in

  • anyone near se4 and have the required tools to put one of the £6 straps on my speedie?

  • will pay with dick pics

  • maybe

  • Hublot is a joke

  • Strangely never heard of that.
Semi-CSB time. I know one of Tals brothers, Ben, who owns the best and coolest bikeshop in Copenhagen, Ben Ben, where they sell absolutely amazing steel and Ti frames build by another brother, Ari. Cool family.
