First I thought you were getting your rant on, bashing them non-stop... but somehow they have succeeded - you wanna try one. That’s only a few steps away from fry.gif

Ha AP not PP.
It was pretty much laughed off when released. (Royal Oak)

Seconded re. ETA movement listing in parentheses - wasn't there this AM!

I have a weird hypothetical question for you guys.
Imagine this Smiths, but bracelet and case made of yellow or rose gold, with matching hands.
Would it work with the dial?

• #32633
terrific
-
• #32634
Sure it will, make sure to downsize the clasp and not do black on black texting
-
• #32635
Dial will be left alone. Hence my question. Will the dial look ok with gold case and matching hands?
I'm toying with recasing one, in cahoots with a jeweler friend.

• #32636
I reckon it will look nice. Not sure if cost effective ;)
-
• #32637
I think it'd only make sense with a really decent gold plate.
Would rather spend the solid gold money on a President!

Seems like a good way to get some bastard to mug you for a cheap watch; 'cause he finks it a Rolex, innit !
-
• #32639
Surely a totally unique one of a kind watch would be worth more than a Rolex? :D

Nothing ever has been improved by gold plating.

Lmao. Too accurate. I actually helped some dudes (involountarily) who were starting a new watch brand like this with some photos and digital material. It felt pretty pointless, and sad really, as there were absolutely nothing special about the watches. I felt bad for them. And for the people actually paying a premium (~£150) for what's esentially worth £30.

This is fantastic

Except Tudor also had real heritage and a great back catalogue. Then they brought out some really good, innovative watches. And then they added relatively cheap and advanced in house movements. The celebrities were at least promoting a good product!

C’mon babe, don’t be like that... @Stonehedge needs a reason to buy one just to hate it.
-

Very true. Although I think it'd be unfair for me to write Norqain off as a bad product without handling one. I've been wrong about plenty of watches when judging them from photos.
That said, I suspect they're a bit meh.

Buy three

Someone was pitching a colleague a new brand of luxury Swiss watches a year or so ago.
It was such bullshit. There were a couple of zeros on the end more than those though. Absolutely no idea what the justification was other than supposed contacts with folk who'd buy them.

No.
Dial colour would need to change imo. And a bracelet is pushing it.
Pink gold, cream face, and dark numerals, maybe?
Ultimately though there is something decidedly "sports" about the large Arabic numerals in that configuration.

The more I think about Norqain, the more I realise they are just trying a similar approach to Tudor and their hugely successful Dare To Be/ David Beckham marketing except they are using athletes with appeal to the Swiss.
I assume that they intend to target the domestic market first, before making decisions about going bigger.
I'm genuinely curious to take a look at one in the flesh.
