I'm also ridiculously tempted by seiko's 62MAS reissue - limited to 2000 pieces (1500 outside of Japan) but with a Grand Seiko movement.

If Henry VIII wore a watch, it would be on that strap.
It's a fucking nice strap

That's a lot of notes for a Seiko diver.

Any idea on where to get it from?

Offered to swap a snapped stem on @Pifko's Seiko as it's a quick and easy job. He bought the watch second hand, and there were a few other things to be addressed, so here's some photos.
Opened the case back to find the auto rotor detached. Weird. Maybe it came off in the post? Screw and thread look fine.

Timegrapher results look bad. The beat error should be less than a few mS but it's around 8mS. The rate is about +2 minutes per day. Maybe someone has mucked about with it? Maybe it's badly magnetised?

Put it on the demagnetiser. It must have been magnetised as the beat error is now reasonable at around 2mS.

The hole where the rotor attaches has flats so that it can't slip around the arbor which it attaches to. There are marks around the hole which suggest it's been tightened on mis-aligned with the arbor, such that the flats did not line up. Maybe that's why it fell off. It's also a bit dirty so the loose dirt is cleaned off.

Movement ring is rubbed with Rodico to clean it as it also has loose dirt. You can see the dirt stuck on the Rodico.

A closer shot of the small movement. It's a bit dirty but I remove the loose fragments. I'm still surprised at how small it is. It's more like a ladies movement size.

The movement back on the timegrapher with rate and beat error adjusted. Looks pretty good.

you fancy having a look at a SNK809, that I dropped on a tile floor?

Great! What movement is that? The rotor looks very peculiar.

No idea on strap soz. 😎

It comes with the watch so I assume you can only buy that one from Tudor.
-
• #24113
Not sure what movement it is. I can only presume they used something that small for value reasons. It performs perfectly well, but you get better performance with a larger balance wheel, and that requires a bigger movement.

Anyone has any experience with chrono24? Put my watch for sale there and have to msgs from south africa.. a bit weird..
-
• #24115
Can do. I'm quite busy with work at the moment, so a bit slow, but happy to do any simple fixes for anyone.
-
• #24116
were you interested in putting the dial on a watch of known provenance otherwise...
-
• #24117
Out of my depth here, I'd like one - and this would be a route to a watch that is functionally identical to a real one, but feels a bit wrong.

As I read that, I nearly found myself replacing 'watch' with something of the uncanny coming from the adult industry. 5am is too early to start a day...

• #24119
frankenwatch would be the result. But hey if you like it.
-
• #24120
Yeah, as I said - uncomfortable. I'd rather get a "real" one, whilst acknowledging that is purely down to the serial number being in a certain range

Kinda glad you didn't post one of those backless banana hammocks out of Brewer St.

pays money, takes choice etc. I'd be far happier putting a service dial on a watch of known origin than buying a franken from someone on a forum - who knows what bits have come from where really.
-
• #24125
It's an interesting thought experiment though - whilst I utterly acknowledge the validity of your opinion, what if the service dial was one that 'matched' the model, but wasn't original. Would you be content, or would that also not sit right? Not arguing, just always curious about human nature.
