That Tortuga tune is great.
very early Ritchie Hawtin
Groovy Beat by DOP sample in that Tortuga (Rock it to the Rythmn)
Also its Columbia by Oasis riff!
Haha. So it is!
@goodhead - I enjoyed the Eclipse video on previous page - thanks
This isn't a true rave tune but definitely is in the spirit of one.
Groovy Beat was after this though right? Not that it really matters!
Was it? I assumed it was before!
Been listening to this today. Really love this era - fancy making some contemporary tunes in this style even.
Weirdly, I can tell you how Jungle differs from Breakbeat Hardcore, but I struggle to express what makes Hardcore unique other than it came first - thoughts from UK Rave scholars?
:edit: ngl - the piano roll at 1:08:48 is getting me all misty
Also, anyone got a bead on any rave-revival artists?
Total long shot and might come across as gibberish but can anyone ID a track from around 92? The start was a woman’s a Capella singing something like..,” Dom pey ooh, Dom pey ooh eehe, Dom pey ooh , Dom pey ooh eehe, Dom pey ooh Dom pey ooh eehe he he ehee Or something like that 😂
you're going to have to record a sound clip of you singing it
That is a long shot!!
Youtube searching for rave tunes and acapellas:
Lone is quite Ravey to very Ravey dependent. Galaxy Garden album is fairly rave centric https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLK5_UnXAc9t-gyUQ3yoa2PFlfH-gbZ2Wx
Luke Vibert Modern Rave album is worth checking out https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFMRznWHwK_Qe5-XaIpfB4zPb9vF5ijCQ
Posthuman has done some quite Rave ish stuff recently https://youtu.be/HHeTxNpJJyA
FSOL Papua New Guinea?
you're not talking about Voodoo Ray are you?
Ah ha, sounds like it eh?!
Deffo not fsol or voodoo ray, it was a very obscure track rarely heard. I heard it once in Shelley's Stoke and had it on a tape that was robbed out of my mk1 XR2.
Thanks for the efforts guys hopefully I’ll come across it one day...
+1 for ‘sing it’
I used to browse a music forum when someone did that...the inevitable piss-taking ensued...so much lols for days 🤣
