Jesuit school?
-
• #1157
Yep.
-
• #1158
Jesuits know their shit. But the academic bonuses you may have had at your disposal may have been watered down by the douche bag effect of being at a upper class finishing school.
-
• #1159
It wasn;t exactly an upper class finishing school.
And I failed and have no high school certificate... might go back and finish it one day when i have a mid-life crisis.

• #1160
Thanks h... :)

this doesn't help
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11125497"Mr Wyatt has dismissed racist hate mail he has received, saying it was time for Australia to move forward."
no shit! 20 years ago perhaps it's fucking 2010!
-
• #1166
It certainly is sad that Mr Wyatt received hate mail. However, I don't think that should undermine teh awesomeness of there now being an Indigenous MP.
Don't forget, this is significant not just for its symbolism regarding racial, political, social, disease and economic inequality; but it's also significant for what it might say about the future of marginal federal politics in Australia.
It really is a step forward, considering the overwhelmingly white, middle class, and male character of both houses.
Certainly, 20years ago would have been nice, or perhaps, 110 years ago when Indigenous Australians were disallowed the vote, and were counted in the census as 'fauna' by the Imperial Govt (only overturned in 1967).
It might be 2010, but inequalities prevail in many aspects of most societies. The process of their eradication, however protracted, is something to be pleased about.

but he's a
neo-conglobal-warming denierliberal :( -
• #1168
ew, i know. but still - the whole point of the westminster system is to represent a broad populace - so if this gets more attention for Indigenous issues, then it's ok right?
-
• #1169
Thats a fucking embarrassment.
-
• #1170
why do you hate my liberal (small l) sensibilities Balki?
-
• #1171
No, not that... the fact that he's the first ever... and he's received hate mail. The whole indigenous issue should be the elephant in the room for us, but its not. No-one gives a shit.
-
• #1172
Balki, it is little wonder that the Australians treat their indigenous population poorly; look how they treat London's indigenous people.
-
• #1173
totally agree; lets transport those that are sending the hate mail, at which port should the ship dock?
-
• #1174
Sadly, due to the availability of airmail, transportation would not thwart an organised hate-mailer - unless you moved him close to one of London's more erratic sorting offices.
