I'm looking for somewhere central or East-ish for Christmas Eve lunch. Pricey is fine. Grateful for any suggestions!
Having eaten at a few places on here and followed the authors journey on Twitter I’m fairly certain each of these joints is well worth a visit.
Been to quite a few of these.
Thattukada is legit. Went there on a recommendation from @amey. Big fan. Make sure you get the anchovie pakora
Hala is good. Was my old local but tbh you can't really go wrong with any of the grill restaurants on that stretch. But IMHO Hala went down hill when the prices went up and they started offering peri peri.
Let chamarel. Been their twice. Once amazing. Once decidedly average. Try go when it's amazing! Fish curry was good. Lots of flavours that were unexpected.
Olde Goa is next to my missus place so will give it a go. It's in norbury so arguably not in London.
Being Malay cafe TPT and roti king are regulars. Have the laksa in TPT and the roti canai and murtabak in roti king.
Good japanese eateries central ish?
Price and fancy-ishness?
Not fancy. Im just in town and fancy a bite
Abeno - Okonomiyaki
Asakusa - mixed Japanese
Any of the Atari Ya restaurants/takeaways
Mugen for takeaway lunch
Ippudo, Kanada Ya, Tonkotsu for Ramen
A few options
Lovely stuff ta. Trying tonkotsu now.
They have a couple in Hackney too so if you like it you don't have to venture that far from home to get some more.
Can anyone recommend an infant (newborn)-friendly place for a very good Sunday lunch in north/east London? We'll probably end up in a bistro/posh pub, but any ideas would be great..
Duke of Richmond?
Marksman has a very good sunday Lunch
Black Cat Café in Clarence Road?
Any good veggie/vegan-friendly (but not exclusively) recommendations near the City (down to London Bridge at a stretch), for date night, nice but not too posh? Ta.
Need options for an anniversary dinner, next week
Decent atmosphere and laid back.
Preferably central/south london, as can’t be too far from jnr and babysitter..
I enjoyed Levan in Peckham for a birthday lunch recently? Food was great, lovely wine, atmosphere pretty good but definitely on the buzzy / relaxed side rather than well fancy
Had an outstanding dinner at Lupins (just by Flat Iron Sq) a month ago. Pretty casual, downstairs sort of blends into the bars of the square, so not quiet.
enjoyed a decent lunch at Hicce in Coals Drop Yard if Kings X ain't too far for you corndog. easy access with Victoria line for you. they are mainly doing it right with the cocktails and pates being particularly good.
Thanks for the suggestion. Enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner there. The tarte tartin was fucking amazing.
Was slightly confused as i’d been to the same space when it was the Peckham refreshment rooms..
But overall loved the food and the vibe..
I got taken to BRAT last night by my wife.
In fact everything was top.
Finished off with olive oil ice cream, on top of rosemary oats and drizzled with insanely good olive oil. Staaaaahp.
Any reccos for a post cinema dinner near Barbican? Nothing too fancy, ideally with a bit of carb content for cycling Saturday.
Have to say I’m a massive fan of Fish Central - it’s not fancy
3 courses for £16 - old school eat in fish restaurant usually full of a great mix of characters with Stella served in chalices.
Love a good meal there 😎
Apuila is really good if you want Italian. Pizzas are good but the pasta is better
Went to Babur on Sats for a rare trip out with the wife. Was absolutely tip top.
Lunch on Monday with the family at the Woodhouse, Sydenham was a bust - waited an hour for distinctly average food.
