Chain-drop brother! I hear you!

I'm running SRAM on my race bike at the moment. Inner ring only for me. 1x Di2 soon though.
-
• #7704
I’ve been surprised just how good Di2 is for cross, my setup has been faultless and no matter how bad the conditions are, the shifting remains precise.

Snap, I've had one shipped chain at Somerhill a couple of weeks ago,in the 2 years I've been using it
-
• #7706
I'm sure you can guess who won but the technical course definitely showed why he is a cut above everyone else at the mo

I'm running bodged SS on a pompino. As is fizzy.bleach I think.
Despite chain tugs and Shimano QRs I seem to keep dropping chains on dry bumpy courses. Think my rear hub or axle is dead now as it has a lot of play...#csb

Thanks to the Dulwich gang and yourself for yesterday. It was a fun course.
-
• #7709
From memory I used a eolftooth or superstar narrow wide.
You could always use one of those dog fangs? Or a front mech. I know it undoes the simplicity and "clean lines". But, you're actually pretty good so wasting time shipping chains is a bit of a twat -

Nice course, fun features! Surprised that some tried the bunnyhop stair mount style, I think it was quicker just to shoulder the bike and run up?!
Ceylin Del Carmen Alvarado winning the women's race (her first as pro while still technically U23) the way she did (VDP-esque) was very impressive too

Yeah. Pompino SS with Shimano Alfine 39t front and WI 18t rear and a Wipperman chain. Yesterday I knew my chain was floppy but I raced anyway without shunting the rear wheel back. Otherwise it's been fine.

I have a vague memory that there was meant to be some cyclocross at the Olympic park at some point which I was planning to watch. Has this happened, is it yet to happen, did I imagine it?

Paul Maunder (and others) were trying to get a round of the UCI World Cup for the Olympic Park. Race dates for next season’s WC were released before Christmas and a London round was not included. My understanding is that they are still trying to secure a round for the season after next.

Cheers, that sounds like what I was thinking of. A shame they didn't manage to get it, it was one of the few times I've enjoyed a trip to Milton Keynes when they had it there a few years back.

The National Championships are at Cyclopark just outside Gravesend at the weekend, if you fancy seeing some top level (and @gofasterstipes) racing. The main events are on Sunday afternoon.
-
• #7716
Cheers, have you got any more info on that. A quick google mainly seems to give details on entering rather than spectating.

Is that race available with english commentary anyhwere?
-
• #7719
Not sure, check out the GCN Facebook site/page they're streaming live coverage
-
• #7720
Cheers, will have to look into how easy it is to get there.
-
• #7721
Whereabouts are you?
-
• #7722
North London. Getting to Gravesend seems easy enough on the fast train, will have to ponder my weekend plans. Is it just turn up and watch? Will there be a bar and frites?
-
• #7723
Free entry all weekend, according to their Twitter feed there certainly will be be alcohol and and food. It would be rude if it wasn't beer and frites
-
• #7724
Someone just told me that you don't have to hold British passport to enter the nationals. Is this true? Can't find much information on BC.
-
• #7725
It doesn't mention anything in the rule book other than holding a full UK race license. I'd contact the bcf directly to clarify if you're in any doubt

@Multi_Grooves
I dropped my chain and nicked my finger getting it back on. The blood wouldn't stop pouring out and I couldn't adequately grip the brake so I took a whole lap out to get patched up and only came second last!
