RIP - James Lovelock
Maybe he was onto something?... 🤔
RIP Bernard Cribbins, the Wombles and this classic song:
King of Jackanory also
King of Jackanory
King of Jackanory
The voice of my childhood. One of the few things the television would be switched on for.
Same here. RIP Nervous O’Toole
Big effort not to cry at work when heard about Bernard just now.
James Lovelock's Gaia Hypothesis was a book my geography a-level teacher put me onto, it was an eye opening read.
A fitting tribute to the man: the mawkish bleatings of some ambulance-chasing, corporate social media team!
Maybe, but I like the sentiment.
A very nice word from the instagram page of Russell T Davies
Bernard Cribbins (1928-2022) I love this man. I love him. That’s him as Snout in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. D’you fancy doing some Shakespeare, Bernard? “Let me see the script.” He knew everyone! He’d talk about the Beatles and David Niven, and how he once sat on the stairs at a party impersonating bird calls with T H White. Then he’d add, ‘I said to Ashley Banjo last week…’ He loved being in Doctor Who. He said, ‘Children are calling me grandad in the street!’ His first day was on location with Kylie Minogue, but all eyes, even Kylie’s, were on Bernard. He’d turned up with a suitcase full of props, just in case, including a rubber chicken. And what an actor. Oh, really though, what a wonderful actor. We once took him to the TV Choice Awards and sent him up on his own to collect the award, and the entire room stood up and cheered him. That’s a lovely memory. He’d phone up and say, ‘I’ve got an idea! What if I attack a Dalek with a paintball gun?!’ Okay, Bernard, in it went! He loved Gill with all his heart; he mentioned her in every conversation we ever had. A love story for the ages. I’m so lucky to have known him. Thanks for everything, my old soldier. A legend has left the world.
A great loss, really influential thinking to challenge the orthodoxy
And Bill Russell
That and the Whoopi quote show how important proper representation is.
Bill Russel's impact on sports and the Civil Rights movement has never been fully recognised. His story is incredible. RIP.
Useful for context on his achievements.
Civil rights campaigner Roy Hackett
Rest in Power.
Olivia Newton-John 73. Grease is the word.
Grease was the first film I went to see twice.
It is a sad day
73 is too young.
Grease was the first film I ever saw at the cinema.
Lamont Dozier - proper songwriting legend RIP.
R2 played a quote of him speaking on "intergrating cultures through fashion"
Bless that man.
