Apologies for the spam but my 52cm Pre Cursa frameset just might be of interest to someone here -> https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/310415/

Interesting, did you ride it with a stock Alpina too? Any comparisons?
-
• #3758
Definitely gonna do that soon, just need to order one through work.
What nice is that it actually increase the stack and shorten the reach a tiny bit, but enough for the 38mm rake fork to work with it (compare to the 30mm Alpina fork).

Have you some sort of headset adapter on there? Look like a black band at bottom of hheadtube?
-
• #3760
You pretty much said it, it’s a piece of tape.
-
• #3761
...electrical tape as a cosmetic measure, because it looks better.
of course not an issue if you have a black one. I sometimes think I shouldve gotten black. -
• #3762
Oh sorry.
Looks good.

Pre-cursa for cx? Anyone done it okay?
-
• #3764
I think so.
Deffo some cx type builds way back in the thread.
Would require a cx fork as the Alpina track and Road carbon forks don't have mud clearance.
Can't say for sure if anyones raced one, but it appears that the style of cx has been done. -
• #3765
This as posted by @beforeitwascool9817 a few up looks to be cross-ish. Definitely love to try it on mine at some point.

• #3766
fine with cx fork

Would obviously need a different fork, but had a 35c in the back. -
• #3768
Thanks all. Could be a good fixed/ss gravel pissabout frame then, but I guess for actual cx rear clearance would be hopeless.

Little hopeless for deep mud

My precursa came with 32c cross tyres by mistake so I know they fit (it was the grass track one, so has winter trainer fork), and recent excursions have persuaded me that I would like something bigger than my current 25c tyres. What’s the biggest tyre size that’ll still fit under guards? Ideally would like to use some SKS chronoplastic ones, but open to suggestions.

Got a pre cursa frame on the way, which internal headset do I need? From the looks of it I need 35-45 bearings?
Planning to use Columbus tusk 1 1/8 forks. -

36x45

Dolan sell the Alpina headset separately, 36*45.

Looks like it's possible to use 35c tyres with a 54cm pre cursa. Does anybody know if they'll fit on a 52 as well? :)
