Would you suggest a 54 then? I was thinking a 56...

Depends. I have likkle legs and a long back, so a small frame and a long stem works well for me. Also, I only use mine on track, so a more aggressive position is possible.
This is my Pre Cursa before I took all the nice bits off it to put on my DF4.

It's so ambiguous though with only 100000000 people saying size down. I'd better chime in too, I bet my comment will tip te scales.

I have a Dolan if anyone on here is interested before i stick in the classifieds. It's one of these in blue but sprayed matt black comes with frame/seat collar, headset, bottom bracket. No Fork, its the 1" version.

56cm.
I'm a wee bit taller (181cm), with a slightly longer back relative to legs, and 56 is spot on (110mm stem IIRC, with a Nitto B125AA bar), used on track.
I have 54cm Track Champ that's used for hill climbs and fair weather commuting, running a 130mm stem, but it feels is too twitchy on a flat road due to stem length and (stock Alpina Track 30mm) fork rake. -

I've been riding around on my 60cm Pre cursa for a few years. Lower back is becoming a problem 6 months into my (15 miles each way) commute. I'm on a 90 stem, inline seatpost and risers and feel like i'm nearly always on the nose of the saddle, so thinking i'm just too stretched out? its weird because I don't really remember experiencing any pain over the same commute over summer.

I have likkle legs and a long back..
lol..for some reason i thought i was the only one..choosing frames are a PITA.
also does anyone know the difference between those the have "pre cursa" and those that have "dolan" on the ST?
-
• #2889
May depend on the year the frame was made. I've seen old Pre Cursas with 'Dolan' on the ST, and recent ones (correct me if I'm wrong - maybe after 2009-10) with 'Pre Cursa text. An email to Dolan would probably clear that up.
If it doesn't say 'Pre Cursa' on it, the shape of the tubes (down tube not straight, slightly squashed towards the bottom bracket) is the giveaway frame identifier, just like how the Track Champ never said 'Track Champion' on it. -

If it looks like a PC, but says 'Dolan' on the seat tube, it might be an FXE.
(Edit: though I'm guessing mudguard and rear drilled brake mounts would make the distinction pretty easy to spot)

Lookin' good, and electrical tape boss blanking FTW!
Also, more evidence that recent batches of these frames have the proper, replaceable stainless inserts on the track ends, which is good to see if you're thinking about buying new. -
• #2893
Hey, thanks. To clarify: it's actually an older model FXE, when the dropout inserts were still included.
Current models don't include them, from what I can tell. Also, the tape is 3m reflective, courtesy of @adroit. The blue tape actually matches the frame at most angles, though the camera always seems to pick it up the reflection (direction of light and all).
Curiously, it measures 55 square (ctc), so I guess it's a 54cm?
Anyway, super fun bike.

It makes me wish I was Polish enough to pull it off, and creative enough to have thought of it when I had a precursa.

Would anyone be interested in a 58cm Precursa Matt black frame (no headset or fork). It hasn't had a hard life and so is in decent condition.
