yeah I get what he's saying mate. Just totally disagree. my mates 56cm track champ with totally similar components in weight to my 54cm pre cursa is way way lighter. I;m even adding another "way" in there lads.

All the parts bar the front hub are sitting in my room and I can be sure that it'll be very different than most if not all PC posted here ;)
So, er... neither have you.

Oh yeah, totally reliable method of weighing stuff.
I'm no metallurgist, but it doesn't take much to understand some basic data from those links.
I'd go as far as saying the Dolan website is right. -

I've never picked up a single pre cursa build thats felt anything close to a track champion build. you don't even need figures mate. its just obvious.
-
• #1831
ps.. I wish my pre cursa weighed the same as a track champ.

There's your problem.
PC = Budget build mainly built by people on a budget. Budget parts = weight.
TC = .....by people with slightly higher budget which means "classier" lighter parts. -
• #1833
meaning?
-
• #1834
oh you mean don't trust the fact everytime I have picked up one and the other to feel the difference its been blatently obvious, but really I should hang back, remember science and my man chak have gotta be right.
-
• #1835
No, I don't.
-
• #1836
re-read my previous messages. at one point my pre cursa had top top quality gear on, especially in terms of weight. my mates 56cm track champ was still abundantly lighter. going round in circles here son. agree to disagree perhaps.
-
• #1837
You're going round in circles. Unless you bring evidence to support what you're saying, then no. I don't trust your word.
-
• #1838
You the man (or women) Chak. Trust nobody.
-

Hmmm... Let me wade into this Track Champ discussion.
I want a TC for the 74 ht angle and not the weight reduction, it's 73 on a PC.
For a daily ride, I rather more responsiveness than weight, I bet I can shed more weight by taking a massive dump before every ride than getting a TC ;)
-
• #1840
haha yeah but if we take the Chak method into account, it would clearly depend on what you eat and how well your digestive system is currently working.

Oh you, now you say it like that, yes, the TC is way way way (I've added 3 you see) lighter.....
Hmmm... Let me wade into this Track Champ discussion.
Looking forward to the build. I like the TC, but I can't justify it for what/where I use it.
-
• #1842
Nah... For comparison sake it's got to be *caeteris paribus... *;)

Chak, front hubs are being shipped from the US and should be here by mid May as they are on pre-order.
I see yours is now a sled, any thoughts of joining the dark side again? I can lend you my current forks!

I don't really give a flying one, since I already have a PreCursa and am perfectly happy with it, but if it comes down to a dispute between
- Scales, frames weighed using actual scales, and Dolan's own weights, on the one hand; and
- Marcopolo's entirely anecdotal assetions that a TC is 'way lighter' than a PC
then I'm going to go with science, and the laws of physics, rather than marcopolo's entirely subjective assessments of the effects of gravity of bicycles. But as I said, I really don't care anyway.

54cm for both is stated as 1.78kg by Dolan themselves.
I've weighed a TC 54cm and it came to 1.75kg. I now own a 54cm PC and it comes in at 1.80kg. "..a lot less" it sure ain't.I got my 58cm Track champion on 2012 may and just the frame weighted 1.8kg

Probably anti on a road use frame but I fucking love this painjob.

Without meaning to boast, but i could do much better than that, that reminds me of a hot wheels car.

Bring it into the fold man! Make 2015 the year of the insane paint job!
I'm always tempted by matt purple. -

I do a bit of graffiti and stuff so i'm handy with a spray can, first idea i want to try is a fade with about 5 shades of 1 colour, or even 2, like blue into green or what ever.

dolan by Niko Olsson, on FlickrMy Dolan got a new paint coat :) a little rough but I'm happy with it. Ran out of paint so have to get a bit more and retouch some parts.
This looks great - if a little too small.
Nice choice of colour.

TC may be lighter on average or whatever but what Chak is saying is that they're definitely not way lighter. I agree.
