sorry I've tried to fight the feelin but I can't.

My girlfriend can't seem to pedal and talk at the same time so fixed wheel is quite out of the question.

I'm generalising, but I feel woman often have a hightened sense of danger, coupled with too little bravado.
She's never tried, but I can imagine my girlfriend focusing too much on all the things that can lead to her falling off.
Whereas I find it remarkably easy 'big myself up' and not think too much ;)

my last girlfriend didn't ride a bike, but i was trying to convince her to get one. there is no way i would put her on a fixed gear for her first bike (and nor would i put my male friends on a fixed if they hadn't ridden for years). i suspect there are a lot of couples like this.

Admittedly, it's a bit annoying that one of us always has to completely bald at any given time, and to have to keep meeting up whenever she wants to wear it for a while, but I get my own back when I want to wear it, and it's a nice enough hairstyle.
