  • This is dominating my life. Do I do the TT or do the recce, bloody hell.

Do both, go on, you know you want to.

  • There is talk over here of black ice on Sunday (go to end of thread).

Just as an advance warning--I won't do the recce on Sunday if conditions in Surrey or East Sussex are icy again.

I hope the forecasts are proved wrong, though. Let's monitor it closely, and I'll post to this thread again what my final decision is in good time before the planned ride time.

  • Fingers crossed it's decent weather, honestly, if I end up missing this Brighton run 3 times I will contemplate sacraficing a small lamb to the weather gods.

  • Is this happening Sunday just to check> and where is it going from? Scrolling through to find out is too confusing... just gimmie the info peeps!

  • yeah I need to know if this is happening as I need to get the train up from Brighton so their had better be some people there.

  • i dont think im going to do the recce anymore i dont like the weather forcast lol

  • same here, snow = no for me when it comes to long rides plus I am not gonna travel up on the train for no one to turn up

  • Aaahhh, this is so frustrating, but I'm afraid I've just come down with something and definitely won't be able to go out on the bike tomorrow. Or today, for that matter. Got back from Rollapaluza having had a nice time and then proceeded to be completely unable to sleep, gradually developing further the mad cough I've had for a few days, a big headache, and a temperature and generally running out of HTFU juice.

Really sorry to let everybody down. I tend to get about one 'flu a winter and it had to be now. If previous experience is anything to go by, I should definitely still be on for the proper night ride next Saturday, so as of now that is happening.

It does look as if the weather forecast is still sitting on the fence between doable and not doable. Do you have snow and ice down there, Nick? Perhaps the weather would again have ruled it out in any case, but that's scant consolation.

Grrr, I'll definitely get down to Brighton soon! Watch this space ...

  • A quick bump so that people don't miss this. See my previous post.

  • Out also, just came back from London Fields with my hands and feet fruzz.

  • Oliver. Sorry you've gotten sick. HTFU

  • Gonna have to miss the recce ride to, there's no way I'll get down to hyde park for 10am now.

Have a good ride, i'll see some of you on the 7th.

    STE5, the recce isn't on now--see posts ^^.

Hope to see you soon, though!

  • Glad this is going to be put off, my knee get's bigger than a baby's head everytime I try and do some real riding.

Might have to wait for warmer climates.

    Were you OK rolla-ing, though?

Hope you manage to get this sorted out soon!

  • It was ok, it swelled but not as much as it did when I tried to race last year.

I think after my accident my knee just became allergic to winter.

  • my whole body is allergic to winter

  • It looks like a good job we didn't do this ride today.

Let's hope for better weather next Saturday for the night ride!

  • The current forecast for Saturday/Sunday isn't good--sub-zero temperatures (which in itself wouldn't be so much of a problem) and snow and ice. Forecasts change but I'm not optimistic. Bugger.

  • yeah just not worth the risk

  • sounds like a good start to a movie where a load of cyclists get lost and slowly freeze to death in the middle of nowhere

  • I'm out.
long shift at work that evening (think 11 till 4)
if we could shift it 2 weeks?

  • Shifting it two weeks isn't a bad idea at all.

Love the novelty of riding in the ice and snow, but i'm sure it'd wear off after ten miles or so or the first time you stack it into the person in front.

  • Plus i'll have finished the new bike by then :-)
