  • Is there any point in buying tickets for Lords NZ Test in early June or is it never gonna happen for spectators?

Ticket sales are suspended, I just checked as I'd suggested to a friend to get some (I bought some the other day).

You'll get a full refund guaranteed if you do get to buy them but they have to reduce numbers due to capacity restrictions, so it's just a question of whether you can afford to lend them money temporarily. The MCC aren't short of money so there's no risk.

(I expect to get our tickets returned/refunded. My guess is that they'll prioritise others over our scant direct purchase history - we usually get tickets through FiL and BiL who are both MCC members.)

  • What a waste of a review by Sibley. Telly is on mute and I still heard that nick.

  • I bought a couple the other day.
Im hoping they follow through and allow us to attend.

But (as greenbank said) they will refund if its a no go.

    Edit: Greenbank answered first...

  • Thanks - if sales are suspended, it's academic, I suppose. Lost quite a few quid on gig ticket refunds in the early COVID era as they were arbitrarily taking £20-odd in booking fees off.

As far as I know it'll be a full refund. Lord's are generally good in that respect. They're far from being on the breadline.

During the test matches Lord's send staff out to buy tickets off the touts so they can trace who bought them originally and ban them from any future purchases (and revoke membership if it was a member purchased ticket). They then resell the tickets on the gate for normal/reduced price.

My FiL has had friends of his (long standing MCC members) have their membership revoked as tickets they originally bought ended up in the hands of touts. What usually happens is that members buy tickets for friends/family and then something happens and those friends/family can't all make it and so they offload any spares on to the touts. Or they sell the ticket to a friend/colleague and they decided not to go and sell to a tout.

He's drilled it into me that any spare tickets I have should be returned to the ticket office inside the ground, he still gets a refund (albeit 80%) and they can resell it on the gate. Also if I do offer the ticket to a friend then I meet them at the ground and go in with them, never give them the ticket in advance in case they do something stupid with it.

However, to give you peace of mind, our refund policy, in line with the ECB, means that if your ticket is cancelled due to the game not going ahead, or capacities being reduced, you will receive a full refund.

  • We're in the lead!

  • Winning by 1 run. Declare!

  • Stokes warning up. Lead could be 30+ before they bat again.

  • doesn't look convinced

  • pad, bat, pad or bat, pad

    Not out anyway.

  • Game over?

  • When was the last time a Test match was completed inside two days?

  • Now it's game over

  • India v Afghanistan wasn't too long ago

  • What's happening here? Is this just a poor pitch or poor batting or outstanding bowling for both teams? Or combo of the three?

  • massacre

That's brilliant. Love anything that hits the touts and gougers.

So, need to open with Root bowling from both ends.

  • I reckon broadcasters will be making a claim against the groundsmen. Might not even get dark before the finish.

  • Could the pink ball be contributing?

  • Leach with the showboating.

  • Mostly the pitch. You might as well play on a gravel car park. India are the masters of playing spin and even they were scuttled for under 150. Really the ICB should haul India up for this, it’s all very well preparing a wicket for the home side but this is virtually unplayable.

  • I reckon the Indian cricket board prepared this wicket, they spent so much on the new ground that they can’t afford to put the floodlights on.
