Think it's about time metal gets a mention. I believe sabbath are the masters and slayer to be the best of extreme metal. Fans of steel please discuss and share knowledge!!
I once had the pleasure of seeing pantera. Phil anselmo should be fucking dead, not dime. The video of sabbath performing warpigs in paris 1970 is quite possibly one of the best moments in heavy music. No bullshit special stage effects, just loud old laney amps cranked up. amazing.
man, I aint heard ministry in fucking ages! I saw them briefly at the first big day out in milton keynes
The only new stuff I've got into has been System of a Down and Tool.
Other than that I'm afraid it's all tech my spokked friend.
I progressed into harder stuff. Don't listen to as much death/grind stuff nowadays, but exodus, priest, anthrax and the mighty slayer are always being played. The best band i've got into ove rthe last year or so have to be a texan black/thrash band called absu. Discovered them from a soundtrack to a weird film called Gummo. They've been going since the late 80s, his wails are nearly as good as rob "the metal god" halfords!!
im off to sleep. lizard. metal lizard.
that is a damn good wail! who are they??

3 inches of blood.. canadian band :) opened for The Darkness at my Uni a few years ago, which made me giggle
I have always loved the NWoBHM stuff, especially Iron Maiden and earlier Def Leppard. And Judas Priest, although I guess they pre-date that a little bit. I still regularly listen to a lot of Metallica and Slayer. Although I never got really into death metal, there were a few bands (Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Entombed) that I really loved.
The Fucking Champs and Don Caballero are quite good, although one could certainly argue they are not 'metal' bands.
Lynyrd Skynyrd... Jacksonville, FL's greatest cultural achievement! I am so sick of Lynyrd Skynrd. Great band, for sure, but it's all you ever hear if you grow up in Jacksonville.
suffocation's human waste is one of the best death metal albums (actually an e.p). You can't also beat a bit of fucking carcass!!! Best shred to work now.
i thought heavy metal died out !
It did, then it came back with a different haircut... Same old manufactured wanktwaddle produced by witless morons... Le sigh... Venom were cool... 'Til they opened their dozy pie-holes...
i thought heavy metal died out !
Heavy Metal will never die! And that's either a good thing or a bad thing, depending.
Not really metal, but whatever ...
