Although tbf Pickford has probably been the second best keeper in the Prem this season.
And last season, statistically.
Impressive in such a poor team.

If Arsenal had Chris Wood up front they'd be top.

Iraola is doing an unbelievable job considering they have 9 players out injured. Watch and learn Ange.

Easily the best basque coach in the league.

Tried to throw that away at the end to help Southampton overhaul the record points total but alas, they really are that bad.

To be fair to Man U, they did have to play against two teams, having to play both Brighton and Hove at the same time is tough and slightly unfair.
-
• #172835
Also to be fair to Ange, it was a pretty snide starting question from the interviewer.

Pleased to see Bournemouth doing well. I really hope they don't do anything silly like selling Huijsen or Brooks etc.

Jonathan Wilson is the most "vibes-with-some-random-data" journalist (although sometimes that data is itself vibes). He does my head in some times and that article is a good example. "Here's a fact, but here's a weird example of it that shows it doesn't really apply, but here's another one in a different context, but that one actually doesn't support my case so let's move on, but then there's this." It's stream of consciousness with a mood.

the requirement to provide stats for anything that happens these days in football is getting most annoying
after darwins last minute antics at the weekend the following facts are now being bandied about on various sources."" No player has scored more 90th-minute winners away from home in the Premier League than Darwin ""
- away from home .... so someone has scored more 90+ minutes winners home and away
- he's only scored 5
- the fact that of those 5 only 3 were actual winners
so to sum up darwin nunez has scored three goals in stoppage time to win a game. wow mind blown.gif
it's like jacob rees moggs thin gruel. could there be any more a watered down fact than this
- away from home .... so someone has scored more 90+ minutes winners home and away

Who doesn't love Darwin Nunez though?
I do. I think he's great. -

when he's in a position with time, to think about scoring he's terrible. if the ball is fired at him at 100mph 5 yards from goal and he doesn't have to think about it he's deadly. must admit i've been toing and froing about his long term future at liverpool. with the chances he's had both torres and suarez would be on 3 or 4 times as many goals as darwin. one on ones he often makes a bad choice, has a bad touch or just doesn't hit the target. he's a had a good while now to improve but doesn't seem to be, then he does something like saturday and i'm more than ready to forgive him any sins he might have committed in the previous 20 games. infuriating, maddening but brilliantly chaotic.

Given that they are one of the worst performing sides in the PL over the last 6-7 games (only Leicester and Southampton worse?), for a team that came 5th last season and were expected to be in with a chance of Champions League qualification this year, it felt like a first question that merited a salty response

saw a comment yesterday that could easily be attributed to ange or amorim.
something along the lines of .... their style of play and the players they have at their disposal are just not suited to each other or to the premier league, but they just keep plugging away refusing to concede anything with regards to formation or style of play.

Indeed, but the question was akin to "so you're a bit shit right..."
I think its fair to say that abuse and very public criticism that both players and managers get in football just wouldn't be tolerated in most other industries. I honestly do worry about the mental health of some of the managers. Ange for one and also Pep seemed to be losing it, whilst also going through the break up of his marriage (as it has recently been revealed).

"when he's in a position with time, to think about scoring he's terrible."
That seems to be the narrative, but I'm not sure it's totally true.
Just look at the goals he scored against Newcastle and the lovely chip over the keeper against Brentford last season. He's had to run with the ball for 1/3 of the pitch, had plenty of time to think and slots them away. -

Try working in SEN for a Local Authority! Plus you can't respond with "it is what it is, mate"!
(I am being facetious, the public abuse managers and players can get is out of line).

Jonjo Shelvey signed up for the promotion push.
Could be a masterstroke if we ignore about the last four years of his career

I forgot he existed.
Eyüpspor sounds like something a Yorkshireman who's spent a few years in Australia would say.
It doesn't look like he scored many 30 yard bangers in Turkey.
