  • Back at his best under Tuchel. Absolute quality.

  • Another great team performance. Kante is just so good. Rudiger and Silva really good too. A highlight for me was Haverts nutmegs. I think Ramos can't have been fir looked a shadow of the player.

If only chelsea could finish it could have been 4 or 5

  • Quite incredible that we're finishing this season in two major finals and in the top four*...

    *For now...

  • I know crazy season. This is an incredible bonus.

  • wow - it’s the result I hoped for but certainly not expected. Can’t wait to see the full game. Sounds like we properly schooled Real Madrid. That doesn’t happen too often to them.

That first goal, how good was Kante in the build up?! Same could be said for the second.

What I particularly like is how comfortable the team looks at the back, if we can get as clinical up front as we are at the back than things are gonna be alright.

  • We look good on the ball, which hasn't been the case since Conte...

  • I think we could do worse than tie Tuchel up to a 3 year deal. Regardless of what the outcome is from the next 6 games to have him enter his final year doesn’t seem the most logical thing to do.

  • If we win the CL he'll be off!!

  • To Spurs, obvs...

  • Nearly feel bad for Tory Frank.

His sacking seemed harsh at the time, but no one could say now that it wasn't the right thing to do in terms of getting results.

  • Ideally sort LB out next or just settle on 3 at the back and go with WB like we did under Conte.

Chelsea could’ve saved the hassle and given me the job 9 months ago 😆

Tuchel has done an amazing job so far considering the circumstances. Can’t wait for the final! Dress rehearsal first this weekend. Our remaining six games are Villa, Leicester x 2, City x 2 and Arsenal. City will be better rested for the final (better get my excuses in early).

  • Assuming Chelsea and City both finish on the top four, would this mean the fifth placed side would also qualify for the Champions League?

  • And if United win the Europa League, would the sixth placed side also qualify?

(Just trying to involve the Kopites in the conversation)

  • All this semi erect Chelsea love in is making me want them to finish out of the top 4 even more*

*I didn’t think that was possible

  • Scruples intact, Tim, we aren't Kopites or Spuds...
    #stillhigh #fornow

  • Semi-erect? This is full on boner territory. 🍆

  • as a neutral it is a bit boring the all england CL final (remember the boring Liverpool Spurs one).

but got to respect the way that both City and Chelsea went about their semi finals though. totally dismantled supposedly two of the best teams in Europe. respect

  • agreed but that was the only thing he did, I'm just saying he's a shithouse rather than dirty

  • I don’t think so, it would be possible to finish 4th and not qualify for the CL. If Chelsea and Arsenal win their respective European competitions and finish outside the top four, the 4th team drops out.

  • I can’t find any confirmation that Everton, as champions elect, get a place next season

  • Didn't do it the easy way as the game could have been put to bed way way early, but what a game and what a performance. We kept Real in their box and moved so so well to create big chances. What an achievement!

  • I think the rules have been changed so that a domestic winner outside the top 4 would mean 5 prem teams in the CL, possibly 6 if arsenal won? My understanding is that the lack of places is then resolved by qualifying rounds at pre-group stage level but might be wrong.

In terms of Europa League since all FA/league cup finalists look poised to qualify for either champions or europa I assume 6th and 7th will grab those spots so Everton, spuds and the kopites to play a game of musical chairs.

  • Regardless of what happens a maximum of 5 teams can enter the CL from England.

The BBC usually summarise it quite well on their "Ups and Downs and race for Europe" page: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56715717

    "
If English teams win both competitions but finish outside the top four, there can only be a maximum of five English teams in the Champions League, so the fourth-placed team will enter the Europa League.
