I appreciate he took the time to upload them, thanks for that Mitre.
But I really think Rapidshare is pants. Personally I do not want to sit around for half a day to DL the pics.

I used to enjoy Mint Sauce, for me Jo Burt's cartoons really summed up what mountain biking was to me, I was gutted when MBUK started aiming themselves towards teenagers that rode trials bikes and people who wanted to drool over expensive downhill bikes. As one of the Mint Sauce pages once said, "it's more about the mountain than the bike" but MBUK didn't really reflect this after a while. Unfortunately the magazines always seem to be wrapped in plastic so just reading Mint Sauce in WH Smith wasn't an option.

I find that's bike magazines as a whole. They tend to be more about the equipment than anything else. If I was new to bikes I'd think that you could not really get a MTB or road bike worth riding for less than a grand, that you needed to use special drinks and gels to beable to complete a 50 mile ride within 4 hours, that every cake is hurting your training e..t.c.
I wonder how much some of these publishers are in the pockets of the component and bike manufacturers the way they ass kiss like Richard Madley. There only ever seems to be a small part of the magazines are actually about rides or riding or things that people (famous or not) have archived. They barely ever inspire me to go ride.

^
MBUK used to interview a lot of riders and show case a lot rides around the country and meet up with the riders there. They also used to have a column by some guy about my dad's age talking about all his random bike kit that he can't throw away and anecdotes of that sort ilk and just talking about long touring.
I haven't bought the magazine for some time about 10 years now, I flick through the odd edition my brother picks up and is far better than most cycling magazines to its credit.

Completely; that's where most of their money comes from.

Used to love mint sauce.
I practiced drawing him so much, I think I could probably draw him from memory. -

did you not read that one?

I used to love looking at the lyrics the were penned in around the illustrations. On a shit dull day, I'll have a look through them and see if I can spot some. I seem to remember Therapy? and Ride getting songs in there as well as many other indie faves.

Just clearing out some stuff and found a load of MBUK magazines. I've kept all the Mint Sauce strips but throwing the magazines away seems a shame. Does anyone here frequent retrobike and know if people there may want them? They'll be chucked out by the end of the week if not.

I'm sure someone would take them, especially if they were free. Stick 'em up on the classifieds here as a freecycle? You may be surprised. Lots of fixed riders used to/still do MTB.
Belated thanks for the scans David.
I always think Burt would have made a great landscape painter, his landscapes in the strips were beautiful.

Remember Mint Sauce? Definitely. I remember reading the strips in Bicycle Action (which probably makes me seem very old).

Nope, he sent me the link and I've downloaded them, and now I'm uploading them.
I think he took offence at our reaction about rapidshare, but I'm going to up them all to this server so that they can be accessed here without captcha's, etc.
