Looks like the bottom of an old coke bottle.
Oh man, there's a whole generation of people that don't remember that bottles had a separate black piece glued to the bottom to keep them upright...
Must be my lucky day! Any of you whisky heads sampled this one before?
I've had it, but I can't remember it being distinctly different to Glenfiddich 12. Do you known what bottling it is?
90s bottling? No age statement. Any good?
Is it still sealed?
Yeah it’s sealed my pop got it as a present. 90s would make sense it supposed to be around 25 years old - Got to save it for a special occasion I guess!
Buffalo Trace £20 in Morrisons, did buy.
This is really fantastic. The Master of Malt nose/tasting notes are spot on. ‘Old book shelf’ and ‘toffee penny’, especially.
Any collectors on here? I've got a bottle of the old iteration of my local distillery - bladnoch - that I'm looking to put up in an auction or pass on. It's the old 21. I've seen it go for nearly 200 as the distillery changed hands and this bottling is now very rare.
Glad the punt paid off, also nice that it's bottled at 46%, great value.
Thanks for the encouragement :)
I haven't enjoyed a whisky like that for a long time. I had a sip of Talisker 18 too, but then went back to the Aerolite as it was hitting the spot so well.
that's good to know.
Was intrigued when it was first mentioned on here, might have to pick up a bottle for autumnal libations.
Post-lockdown session in The Whisky Jar in Manchester. Yamazaki 18 went down v well, if expensively. Jim Beam pre-prohibition Rye is pretty decent in the £20 a bottle range in supermarkets too.
Do read the reviews out there first. It seems to divide opinion, but I'm definitely on the pro side.
Late birthday present from my brother.
Love that whisky.
Don't think anything beats it below £50
My fave 👌
Can't go wrong, I've always got a bottle handy. Personally I prefer Ardbeg and Laphroaig 10 as an under 50 but I also prefer my peat with a big dose of TCP! :D
Is 16yr lagavulin sub £50? Bought the 10yr in the airport for £42, feel like I got stiffed a bit if so
And yeah more or less have a constant rotation of Ardberg, Laphroaig 10, Lagavulin and Highland Park 12 on the go, by the time one bottle is finished my pallette is ready for a change to the next bottle. Every so often I'll go for Glenfiddich 12 for a lighter sweeter taste
£49 on Amazon today. It's their standard expression, so wouldn't necessarily expect the 10yr old to be much (if at all) cheaper.
Yeah, I still have the carton in the cupboard. I think I got a bottle from a friend for my 18th and it sat in a cupboard in Oz for years before Mum found it and I bought it back over here and "got rid of it". It currently houses a bottle of vodka from a Polish wedding.
Honestly no idea what it tasted like so, err, fat lot of good that little tale did for you.
Ah ha makes sense, I lose track of the standard ages of each brand sometimes
