I would mate but mine is in bits.
I also would say that you will need more than 2 days to get used to one.
Bite the bullet, buy one as they are superb.

I'm sure it does take more then two days. But its not so much to get used to one, more to get a proper feel for what they are like. 5 minutes says alot, but not enough to really know. Id like to be able to ride one for a day, to see how the uncomfortablenesssss lasts or doesn't and how it feels for longer distances etc. Give it a decent test.
If I could press you could you say why its superb? I've heard lots of great things from people, but it tends to be they are great, rather then they are great because...

they're fun. really nippy and responsive. very good for weaving through traffic. it's pretty much ideal for riding around on in london. you actually get used to the riding position fairly quickly... i feel really upright when i ride my other bikes now. having said that, it's not an ideal position for big distances -- i'd probably not want to ride to brighton on a lo-pro, for example. but for any kind of city riding, it's great. i reckon i've been putting a few hundred miles on mine a week and i have no complaints. it'll never be the most comfortable bike you own, but it may well be the most fun ride you own. mine is.
no you can't borrow mine.

What Teddy said really.
Beautiful bikes and rides! Especially in London!

Cheers Teddy.
It seems the idea of borrowing a lo-pro was an epic fail, but the info was tres helpful.Maybe you could answer one specific question for me about the position?
One of the problems I had was that the position you are in when you stand up to pedal is really odd and forward. Is that just me, or something you just get used to.'ta

Harry, if mine doesn't sell before the 7th, you're welcome to take it out for a blast. I'd probably like a deposit or some kind of insurance pledge though :)
-
• #8
Ooooh....
fingers crossed then ;-). Why the 7th though?
Don't worry. We can sort out insurance pledge/deposit. I'd let you hold on to my right leg, but I might need it to turn the pedals.
If its really nice might end up buying it off you...
'ta mate.

Aye. I did.

Be fair to say it got me totaly torn with which way to go. I think I need to ride one a bit longer before I buy a frame. Might not even go white in the end shock horror
And thanks for the sound conversation. Was the highlight of my working day :-)

One of the problems I had was that the position you are in when you stand up to pedal is really odd and forward. Is that just me, or something you just get used to.i guess you must get used to it, because it doesn't feel weird to me. have you ever tried hanging onto the bottoms of your drops and standing up to push? it gives you a lot more power.
you could say everything on a lo-pro is a bit odd and forward. meh. you'll sort it out. join the lo-pro brotherhood!
-
• #14
My drops... ummm... I think I lost them mom...
I ride with flat bars normally.
As for joining the brotherhood.... Maybe. Just maybe I will... -

Love my lopro, it's not as low as Teddy's but I run drops or pursuit bars as opposed to his risers.
Totally agree on the feeling really upright whenever I ride anything else.Disagree on the riding to brighton though, I've done plenty miles on that bike and have been known to do a few 50+days in a row.

Where you on the LP at the Bridges ride?

I can't remember, I may have been on the Surly instead.

• #18
Well whatever you were riding i liked it - could have sworn it was an all black Lo Pro with minimal drop running twin 700's - bit like the Cinelli X MASH bike?

-
• #19
Also Harry i am more than happy for you to have a go on my Aende for an hour or so one afternoon - however i run Time Atacs, so you would have to bring some pedals with you:

That definitely sounds like my affinity, beautiful thing that it is.

That Cinelli and yours are beautiful too.
So is Teddy's Merckx.

I'm planning a new build, and I'm tempted by a nice lo pro, and I got to ride one today for 5 minutes to get the feel for one, enjoyed the 650c front - gave for a very lively handling, that made quite a change.
But I still have a lot of doubts, primarily from the distribution of weight on to the wrists and being further forward, but also on the back angle and so on.
I don't want to commit to spending X only to discover I'm not keen on it, especially since I have the money to do a decent build, I'm hoping anyway. So I was wondering if any one would be up for lending a larger (56 - 59) lo-pro with a 650c to me for the day, or for two days, so I can get a feel for how they ride over a longer time, and also try one out with a BMX handlebar to see what thats like. Obviously you are thinking this might be suspect, so I will leave whatever with you as insurance, my present bike, passport, card etc... Whatever you feel would buy you piece of ind really. It would mega useful to me, and is the only way for me to know if its what I want to part with my cash for.
If you have a bike you could loan for a day or two then do get in touch,
You'll be my new best friend!
All the best,
Harry
