  • i'd be up for that

Good, but we would need a few more volunteers to make any kind of competition.

I think ten would be a minimum. If we could get a dozen* riders promising to submit times, I will offer to present a trophy. It wouldn't be anything expensive or elaborate, but I hope the important thing would be the honour of winning.

    • Obviously an early season promise is not quite the same thing as actually completing the distances.
  • Probably better to conduct any 'Forum BAR' business on the TT thread, that's where the testers hang out

  • Hi again Clubman

Ron Wysom's wife Audrey is here and just seen the pic. She can confirm that the 6th from the left is Albert Derbyshire and she saw him presented with his Best All Rounder Award at the Albert Hall. Also confirmed is that it is Ron Wysom Snr standing next to the woman to the far right of the picture.

  • I would be up for this too, although most of my events will be on V courses so I'm not exactly sure how it would work..

The beauty of a BAR based on time trials is that it doesn't matter where the events are as long as they're run under the same rules. So any CTT event could count.

However, there only seem to be two competitors so far, which I reckon is about ten short of a competition.

As MDCC Tester suggests above, it would really be best to move this discussion to the Time Trial thread.

  • Albert Derbyshire was my father and I'm pretty sure that is him. He was VERY young then. I will try & download the photo and show my mother, but she is 89 and sadly suffering from a bit of dementia so she may not be sure.

  • Oh dear.

I was riding with Clubman today, he has put the seed in my mind that I should consider joining a club and entering the required events to be considered for BAR.

How foolish is this? How much training would I need for a 12? I have no previous experience, should I just try for one of each event, so automatically set my PBs and not fret about the actual results?

  • Just jump in and try the 12. I did my first 2 last year. The first of which was my first open TT ever! I managed 201 miles with 90 mins off the bike with saddle soreness. Went back a few months later and rode the national champs and managed an extra 30 miles with a new saddle and only 9 mins off the bike for loo and refueling at the car (I was riding unsupported). Great events
