  • Where would people recommend that I purchase Rotring compasses?

They seem to have doubled in cost (at least) since I was at the Bartlett and last bought some!

  • most random thread I've seen in ages!

  • I'm disappointed. I was expecting another thread about Shinscar's arse. :(

  • Incidentally, I think you'll find that the Masons prefer use of the term "compass" when referring to the plural. Personally, Im going with "compii".

Why do you need several, and if so, which ones? Are there different sizes?

  • Why do you need several, and if so, which ones? Are there different sizes?

I used to have a set (when I was a student, so many years ago now) that had a small one, useful for approx 7cm arcs, and a larger one that went up to around 20cm+, and that had an extending arm for even larger arcs should one want to draw one.

To draw a small arc with the large one was cumbersome, to do the reverse impossible, so two of different sizes was handy.

When you next visit could you make a note of the prices and range?

You could do a deal with the local children- you buy them cider if they scope out the technical drawing aisle of the art shop for you?

That's not a bad idea, I already buy them fags and gin, cider is a small step along the same lines, I will put forward the idea at tonight's meeting.

It sounds like an ideal place for a Neo-Luddite such as myself to shop, if only it were not miles away from my house, or that I had some convenient mode of transport.
