It’s as much an access to resource thing as it is an ego/identity thing, isn’t it? Parents want the best for the kids, and they also want to conceive of themselves as successful enough in life to afford what they see as a cornerstone in their children’s future success.

Having run though the bursary scheme for a private school the kids seem ok but the (paying) parents really are a bunch of cunts, whether they want the best for their kids or not a lot of them really don't want their kids near plebs.
