  • That and the Truss clip from radio Leeds, the level of delusion is quite staggering. We are so fucked.

  • I see why Truss has been quiet for a few days now.

  • Will these be online somewhere?

  • Hello, I’d like to report a murder.

  • The questions and answers are being reported on the Guardian live blog.

Is it normal that the PM would do a tour of the regional radio stations for this kind of crisis? I'd have thought something with a bit more gravitas would be suitable.

She's still trying to sell the 'unconventional' / disruption approach, as well as undermining the usual channels at the same time. Plus someone probably advised her she'd get less of a grilling avoiding them.

  • oh my - that's bad.

She doesn't know why she's done what she's done does she.

  • An inexperienced moron probably advised her she'd get less of a grilling avoiding them.

    ftfy

  • This is very true

  • I'm certainly going to use that line on Mrs EB next synth or drum machine I buy

    "How much did it cost?"

"Well think of it not so much as the cost but the maximum value of the intervention"

  • Just my opinion of course but I think its clear she knows she's fucked up hideously but also knows that if she shows one iota of public regret the markets will react badly and make things worse for her.

She can't u-turn. Maybe she's planning on doing what politicians do best...say one thing but quietly do another.

  • You can hear the advisors gesticulating at the white board

  • Thanks all. The clips if listened to now seem the definition of Michael Spicer's room next door

As much as I love pie I'm glad I've got 4 years left on my mortgage fix and 10 months on my energy fix.

Truss really is the pinnacle of the thick as mince insult. Looking forward to PMQ should she not prorogue parliament. Hopefully the tory party will vote down some of her madness.

  • Radio Norfolk pulling no punches

Can you reassure listeners that your judgment is better than that of people like the IMF and the Bank of England, who have criticised the min-budget?

  • Michael Spicer is going to be busy today.

  • Refused to directly answer "are pensions safe?"

  • Surely any good Libertarian knows that the state owes you nothing and that if you end up destitute it's entirely your own fault?

  • "Liz Truss's Director of Communications, Jason Stein, used to work as Communications Adviser for Prince Andrew until the Maitlis interview"

Its the crossover we all wanted.

  • 3 times Truss said nobody will pay more than £2500. Simply not true.

  • £2500 is not the maximum any family will pay on their energy bills this year.
We wrote to the PM about getting this wrong yesterday.

This morning, she’s repeated the false claim again in local BBC interviews.

    The public deserves better.

  • The price cap has frequently been reported as a specific figure, not an average. The Guardian have been particularly guilty, does my nut in.

  • It means old people may think they can keep the heating on. Really dangerous misinformation.

  • That was hideous - her interjection that "the BoE has had to step in with £65billion...."
was in response to him describing yesterday's intervention as due to "idiosyncrasies in our pension markets"

The speed and tone of his speech indicated that bullshitting on national radio was causing psychological discomfort. This was the only reassuring aspect of the interview.

  • I see why Truss has been quiet for a few days now.

Shell-shocked and out of her depth.
