  • True but they were right (technically). Wouldn’t call 41% against a win though 😅

  • Wow. Is that a lower percentage than May?

  • Yes. She got 63% of the vote.

  • unnamed Tory MP (Andrew Rosindell, Romford) who was arrested for rape is charged. Stay classy,Tories

Who was allowed to vote in this, presumably by proxy, because he still has the whip.

  • Is that a lower percentage than May?

    Yes. She had 37% against.

  • he is fine, if there was a GE they'd have won again

i think all of us here in our bubble underestimate the gammon-ness of the rest of the country, its wild out there

  • Peter Bone “he won handsomely”

  • Just about the most fun result. Plenty of politics to come. Lame duck PM. Hope they continue to fuck themselves.

(was back at my folks over the weekend and they are part of the solid 30% who will only ever vote tory. Was depressing.)

  • Guess on that result, the rebels will start getting behind contenders to build momentum for a future run off

  • He will limp on because for the Tory faithful he is the least bad option.

Disagree with this. Even if the result was even worse he wouldn't go, that's just not him.

To paraphrase someone I heard earlier, he'll only leave kicking and screaming with several loaded revolvers pointing at him.

  • Also top lols listening to people today basically say "don't you know there's a war on".

What an absolute shower of cunts his backers are.

  • It’s a worse result than John major and Thatcher, it’s the best result for people who hate the Tory’s, it’s going to be popcorn

  • I bet the champagne is flowing in Starmer's office.

  • He'll be gone by August. Possibly by Saturday.

  • Can see him going as soon as he has a new job lined up, can fuck off back to The Telegraph with Frost

  • Is that a lower percentage than May?

    Yes. She had 37% against.

And Rees-Mogg said at the time that it was a disastrous result for her. Strangely, he has a different view now.

  • There can't be another confidence vote for 12 months though - is that right?

There are two by-elections coming up shortly (maybe 3 if you include the MP who is currently excluded from parliament). Those might add to the mood of discontent amongst Tory MPs worried about their own prospects whenever the next general election might be.

  • The worst ever confidence result for a pm.

The reshuffle will be interesting. He's got a lot of licklespits to promote now.

  • There can't be another confidence vote for 12 months though - is that right?

That's what the rules say but the point has also been made by some Tories that, that is what the rules say for the time being, they could always choose to ignore them/ vote to update them. If the party decides they want him gone, they will find a way

  • He's done for I reckon

  • It seems that prior to May going they actually held a vote on whether to remove the 12 month restriction. However, it was agreed that if May went they wouldn't count the results and she went.

  • can fuck off back to The Telegraph with Frost

Well by several high profile accounts, they are a bit hit and miss at paying their contributors at the moment. I do hope he gets stiffed when he does crawl back to them.

Hasn't Boris changed a parliamentary standards rule recently? Not sure he'll be so keen to change this Tory party rule...

  • Reportedly, Boris was hugely impressed by Trump's blatant expansion of the new post-truth boundaries. Bet that wasn't the only thing he learned from him.

  • Well mark me down as just fucking amaze surprised
