  • After the vitriol evident in some recent off-topic threads, how about one with a more positive vibe?

Suggestions for those people who you feel have made a positive contribution to the world - or even just amused you.

I'll get the ball rolling with Humph:

    • never have double entendres sounded as filthy as when delivered by a straight-faced octogenarian ex-Guards officer.

There are some examples here: http://www.ivorysky.com/isihac/samantha-has-to-go-now-36-39.php

    Here's his obituary: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/2712075/Humphrey-Lyttelton.html

  • billy conelly always amuses me.

  • Dale.

  • I am partial to the ramblings of blowers

I thought that was Jonathan King at first. My Blowers fail...

  • For his enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge...

  • What Platini said for Fred, quite obviously goes here as well.

Gone, but not forgotten, and a constant source of valuable information as well as some eccentric applied bike art.

    We salute you...

  • Not sure if 'positive contribution' is the right phrase for these two...

    but they're fucking funny

  • For his enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge...

Fred Dibnah rules! my dad dragged me along to a steam engine show when i was a kid, i got to meet him! he was an absolute legend, with an unfathomable wealth of knowledge, and he had to be the friendliest guy in the world.
    RIP.

  • For his enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge...

Wasn't he a bit of a cunt, though? Can't remember precisely why now - will have to go off and search the internets...back in a mo'.

  • OK - seems like he was a nice bloke after all (apart from all the ex-wives) - must remember not to regurgitate internet gossip- it's bad. Sorry Platini!

  • BDW, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm with you on the genius of Mr Hancock

"It is are not raining in Tokyo"

+1 I remember seeing his old land rover on his way to a job one day when he was still doing his stipple jack job.

Well he was either not very good at relationships, or not very nice to his wives, or just very unlucky in love. I don't know. I'm only trying to make some weak justification for my earlier throwaway comment about his cuntishness.

I'll leave this thread till i find something nice to say now.

  • Carlin - 'nuff sed.
