  • After Getting wipped by MikeC in the Death TT I have decided to put in some hill climing practice in a vain atempt to close the gap. I am proposing a ride that is about 15miles long taking in some of Londons nastiest hills. The plan is to start at Highbury and Islington, ride up Holloway Road to the first of the Hills. I am suggesting starting with Archway road as a nice warm up followed by Musswell Hill, Highgate Hill, Swains lane and Highgate west Hill finishing at the Flask for a Beer. If anyone fancies joining me that would be great. It could be a nice ride on a Saturday morning to clear heads or a tuseday night jornt finishing at North drinks. Any takers?

  • which flask? I reckon you should do my first route to the pub. FTL

  • Your first route to the flask in Highgate would require an over night stop. That was a mission. Haha.

  • why dont you sketch a little route up...

  • I'll join you on that when I'm a bit fitter. I just grind to a halt on Swainns Lane.

  • I did one on Map my run but it wouldn't let me save it. Gmap wouldn't let me do anything.

All the more reason to practice.

  • im up for this. ive never done any of london's hills. wanna see what all the fuss is about. next tuesday?

  • I'd be up for it. Any ideas when?

  • I was thinking about this Saturday morning but the weather looks horible and I imagin we will all be prety hungover. But next Tuseday could be good. What time can peole make it to Highbury Roundabout?

  • I reckon a saturday or a Sunday morning, less hassle from cars and peds.

  • Saturdays are good (but not this week) Sundays are BMX and polo.

  • I can do Saturdays but not this week or next week. Sundays are for BMX or getting drink and watching polo. The top of Musswell Hill is really nasty in Heavy traffic (buses trying to cut you up when you are at your weekest) so the weekend could be better. I might do a reckie on Tuesday though and fuck the traffic.

  • I am gonna need a new crankset before I join you on this or I might as well not bother.

  • Excuces.

  • Pay day tomorrow, I'll see what I can do?

  • I will be up for regular hill jaunts. Saturdays is normally taken up by herne hill, but that will be finishing soon so either saturday or early sunday mornings ( 9ish?) ir tuesday nights

  • you should have had this brainwave of yours back in the summer Andrew, with the crap weather/dark evenings coming on and all.

  • Will you be able to cope with waiting a the top of every hill for the rest of us?

  • you should have had this brainwave of yours back in the summer Andrew, with the crap weather/dark evenings coming on and all.

The hills keep you warm and shetler you from the bitting wind.

  • RIght. My bike is now fixed. I may do this tonight to try and get over having to get the bus for the last two days. Anyone else interested?

  • ill do it tuesday if people are. my saturdays are reserved for other activities.

  • big hill in e5 is appaently the best hill around. yes its actually called big hill

I may do it tonight but I am up for Tuesday as well. The long way (although not the longest way, Ray) to north drinks.

  • humm this is quite tempting..will hopefully have my bike finished by Friday/Sat and i live just round the corner from H&I..though 1st time ive rode in years..grew up playing on the South Downs on my MTB how hard can this be...(lulls himself into a false sense of....)

Well come up with a time/date and maybe you'll see a slightly over weight defo unfit fecker crashing though trafic on his way to a meet
