  • Anyone got any old EF lenses that they no longer need or use? (not EF-S).

  • the missus has got a 70-300, not sure ifts an ef or efs though, i don't use canon so i dont know the difference. i'll check later if you want. maybe the boggo 17-55 aswell.

my missus have an 70-200mm F/4 lens so don't really need the 70-300 sadly, but thanks thought.

    the 17-55 is EF-S only. (17-55 give an 35mm equation of 27-85mm)

  • Sigma 28-200 any use? - pretty sure its not EF-S

  • I have no short lenses spare but I presume you have the 50mm 1.8?

they're probably is useful, the lens' aperture would be useful to find out how much they open at 200 as well at 28.

yes I do, I only have two lens - a dodgy 28mm and a cheap 50mm, the annoying thing is that I have a lots of Pentax K-mount lens, but because Pentax DSLR camera are not full-framed (and as far as I know, not going to be full-frame in the future), I have to make the switch to Canon as they have the cheapest full-frame digital right now.

The new 5D mk11 you showed me last week looks pretty amazing.

Oh it does, that however enable me to get the original 5D at an even lower price with a 3 years warranty, so it's a win-win for me.

  • Anyone got a constant f2.8 zoom (wide-ish to 200 or 300) they want to sell me.

    For Nikon.

  • just by a PK-EOS adapter and use all your old Pentax glass on your Canon :)

I will check the specs on the Sigma when I am home - it's nothing special tbh tho

Yeah, you probably don't need the video stuff anyhow, you will need to wait a few weeks for the original 5D stock to start dropping in price.

Pentax cameras are not full frame - so the lenses are not full frame and he is after one of the big bastard Canon full frame bastards.

(did I over do the 'bastards' here ?)

  • I don't care if it special or not really, as long it function exactly as it should it's enough.

Ah the lenses I have were old 35mm one, decent one especially, I got a nice 40mm F/2.8 pancake lens, an 50mm F/1.4, 35mm F/2 etc. in K-mount for the film SLR, not the digital.

but the crop factor make a big difference thought, a 40mm F/2.8 become a 60mm F/4.2*, the 50mm F/1.4 become a 75mm F/2.1 etc. so it's a bit useless when you can't use the lens to it's full use, the lack of a Pentax full-frame digital is what made me switch to Canon.

*(a depth of field of F/4.2 despite the speed of F/2.8)

  • Depends on the lenses - if they are pre-digital then the will definitely be full frame :)

  • yeah it functions fine - will double check it tonight though

Whoops !!! You are right !! I was just thinking DSLR.

  • Hmm, I also recommend the Ef adaptor for K-mount.. but you'll need to file back of some lenses if your using a 5D. I've got some nice EF primes, but I need em. It's dark up north.. www.photosinthedark.com shameless plug. I am also looking into a 5D on the cheap, wait a little for the 5DII to come out in Uk tho right?!

  • The new 5D mk11 you showed me last week looks pretty amazing.

mines been ordered, and i'm no12 on the waiting list so hopefully get one from the first shipment. can't wait to try out the HD

  • brave! after the 1DIII AF shenanigans....

  • Good luck with it, I'll be excited to see the results. Get hold of a nice external mic.. it'll improve things no end. Have you seen Vincents samples? (http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?¬≠act=GetArticleAct&articleID=2086) What am I talking about, who hasn't?! How much did you manage to preorder for?

  • It's not using the same autofocus system, same as 5D from what people are saying, but it remains to be seen...

  • i don't really use AF but if the camera doesn't perform i'll take it back.
fixation quoted me a silly cheap price which i'll be surprised if they stick to but i don't really care about getting the lowest possible price as it's more important to throw it back at them when it doesn't work half way through a shoot and send me a hire one. i'll be keeping the 5d as a back-up.
not planning on doing any live sound with what i want to shoot

  • What do you shoot? Manual focus, I'm guessing product or landscape..

  • bingo!
    (and some interiors)

  • Ha, found your site, I was right on both counts. very much like your product shoots.. elements of humor and moment which seem to elude most product photographers. Good luck with the 5DII.
