but seriously, it really is the full-on tight as fuck and short and stiff as fuck end of the track bike spectrum. not good on the road.

I found it fine on the road, with Open pros at either end . . . even with the HED it wasnt too bad, but i think the seat post helps alot

No - got the HED track conversion kit which gives it the correct chainline, but as it doesnt have a proper lockring (it has a ring that secures the cog, but not a conventional lockring) i wouldnt recommend it for skidding.
