Exactly, and sadly BE is now old hat.
-
• #203
Compared to what? Infinity?
-
• #204
Most places can't get it yet and I'd put money on BE being a much smoother deal than BT's offering.
No dodgy Homehub either. For half the BT price you can get 12/1.3 adsl. -

£30 for Infinity, 40 Mbps uncontended.
So far we have not seen anything bad about it- and trust me when I say we've looked quite hard.
Apart from the total lack of an SLA- but that's any XDSL product.
-
• #206
It's actually a seriously disruptive product in the marketplace- which is why BT is not allowing it out through Openreach into the channel until they've made a mint with it.
-
• #207
I know it's not available here so best wools checks it out. wools also said cheap, which 30/pm ain't.
-
• #208
Isn't it? Out of touch- I have a Virgin bundle as we have no TV aerial here.
Something I will be rectifying when the contract is up.
-
• #209
Last word- I can get free broadband as I work for an ISP, but I'd probably take a punt on Infinity if I was in the market right now.

I'm on Virgin here. No way I'd move to Infinity.
I only checked since I was looking at their costs. It 'might' be available here next year.
Virgin has been awesome but I am on their super duper XXXXXXLL with fries bundle. -

Sky.
I moved to them and have never ever had a broadband outage since. Never been able to say that before.
It's utterly reliable.
Plus they are the only broadband provider who guarantee that their unlimited package actually is unlimited. I'll never get hit with a "fair usage" clause. Important when you work remotely a lot. Or play online games, or download movies and tv.I switched phone line too and I was already a sky HD customer so the cost was much less than BT plus my previous provider, and Sky Anytime + is awesome.

^ that said, i had an awful 3 months trying to get Sky broadband to work at home. Finally gave up and called BT, it was up and running in 3 days.
Broadband in general seems to be a lot of hit n miss. Never heard anything bad about Be though, loads of friends have it and their all happy

I couldn't wait to see the back of Sky. Their Sky+ customer service is abysmal.

I was with Sky a couple of years back and I was happy with them so I wouldn't mind going back - just thought I'd check if there was anything better out there. Infinity isn't rolling out over here until March 2012. Needless to say I won't be waiting until then for internets... BE sounds good but it's £20odd quid a month for just broadband (plus £13 for BT line and whatever installation fees). Call me a tight arse. I think I might just stick with a Sky bundle and get phone, broadband and a bit of tele. Saves me on all those BT installation fees I 'spose.

I'm moving too and have been looking at this. Predicted speeds at my new address are dire so it's cable or BT Infinity, and I've decided to go BT Infninity (although possibly through a reseller - there's a few). I'll replace their boxen with either a Draytek Vigor 2750n or a Fritz!Box WLAN 7390. Probably the latter - nice piece of kit.
-
• #216
How does one find out predicted speeds?
-
• #217
Be are a good choice, despite my broadband speed averaging about 8mb, when I'm paying for 20mb.
I'm going to be heading to Virgin, or maybe (spits) BT Infinity, as I'm in a fibre optic cabled area and am looking forward to 30-40mb broadband next year..

This is helpful too: http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/broadband_speed_in_my_area.aspx
Be*/O2 are good ADSL options...

isn't it worth a tenner extra to get something that is more likely to work? When internet goes down at home it pisses me off no end
-
• #220
My experience with Sky was good and I don't remember having any down time at all whilst with them so that's where my reservations lie with paying a tenner more a month. The person I am moving in with has a o2 mobile contract so we'll be exploring that avenue too. I've only just started doing my research. I'll be looking into everything. Everything.
Thanks for the links, Mr Earphones Guy.

How do we find out about decent speeds outside of Londontown? I may be thinking of moving countryside while im jobless, but i still want a decent connection.
-
• #222
nevermind... I was being retarded... I found this amazing program called Google which helped me out...
-
• #223
Anyone with virgin have a 'superhub'?
-
• #224
Our findings are, don't get one.
I'm currently on a one man twitter campaign to get Virgin to admit it's shit, and it's shit through poor design.
